Fun fact, someone in my condo building once sent a reply to the google group about a proposed apartment high rise across the street saying they were worried that it would, and I quote “lower property values *and* gentrify the neighborhood”
everyone on nextdoor knows that new apartments are overcrowded vacant luxury slums
This is actually an interesting research question: when apartments are allowed, do they bring in richer or poorer residents?
Remember how Joe Rogan was "just asking questions" about trans women and sports and didn't have a problem with trans people otherwise?
He's now a full on anti-trans genocidal fascist.
There is a reason you hold the line at sports.
JACK FOR NEW YORK Jack Schlossberg @JBKSchlossberg x.com Today is the official launch of the FIX IT NOW petition. I'll be going across the city in a petition drive to make public housing safer, cleaner and stronger. SAY NO TO THE DEMOLITION - The Elliot Chelsea + Fulton Houses are in my neighborhood - repairs, not the wrecking ball !!
Jack Schlossberg is now going full NIMBY and fighting against a plan to rebuild a dilapidated NYCHA campus with even more affordable housing and guaranteed brand new homes for every current NYCHA tenant.
What a joke this guy is
Yeah darkness that way lies (lays?)
Oh even I have never posted there I’m not *that* dumb
Story of my life
A DC Urban Moms (and Dads) forum post reading “dog poop everywhere, courtesy of the YIMBYs” and “This is why people don't want missing middle coming to their neighborhood. High density = low class.” before linking to a Reddit post
Part of a reply that reads “There is literally no evidence the people who don't pick up their poop are living in missing middle housing. None whatsoever.”
The movement has grown more powerful than I dared to imagine, with command over both man *and* beast (no that’s not me in the replies)
The New York attorney general's office has ordered NYU Langone to resume gender affirming care for trans youth due to violating New York Human Rights law.

Jamelle Bouie clearly and quite publicly works very hard to be informed and even-handed and anyone talking about him as if he’s not doing either of those things should shut the fuck up and definitely be widely ignored
Monstrous and harmful
Accusing Jamelle Bouie of "exaggerated nastiness" and "hateful, uncharitable commentary" is absolutely insane.
This is above my pay grade (of zero) but yeah sidewalks are always a big fight and the system for getting them (basically begging the community to want one actively with little opposition or it doesn’t happen) is bad
Yuuuuuuup
And this lol bsky.app/profile/moco...
As ever, this bsky.app/profile/moco...
See also “if you don’t build homes here because of traffic people will simply drive through your neighborhood anyway to get to the jobs you get to”
*have you, dammit
Also the recs are a bit too modest and zoning changes should extend beyond main corridors but progress is progress, still, I will bring all this up at the hearing and encourage anyone reading this to as well.
The recs are fine and I think the plan should be adopted, but I’m still disappointed that the plan doesn’t include the rich, (more) expensive suburban areas around DTSS as was the original plan (due to backlash from people who didn’t want quad plexes and what had you near them)
A video game* screenshot showing a village advisor saying “lots of people have moved in, don’t forget to build them all homes” *Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma if you must know
I’m not gonna sit here and say that people tie themselves in knots to avoid the obvious fundamental issue at hand with housing because they are afraid of change and want to feel justified in opposing it but I *will* say that this spin off of a Harvest Moon spin off seems to get it just fine
I got annoyed enough about this with to write about it recently, it’s exhausting ggwash.org/view/101232/...
There is way more of that in Takoma Park than Takoma Park wants to admit. Especially in the historic district
It sure what’s in their minds, but classism is definitely a big part. Plus a lot of the Community Vision for Takoma types are really upset anyone thinks anything should change.
And lol with the “I’ve lived here for 45 years”. Also seem mad they don’t get 1 vote per year living here.
*coughs into mic*

See my usual line about how it’s often good, smart people falling into traps, but yeah 1) not always and 2) the loss of perspective by many in this area is… ooof yeah
