But Ayato gives them nothing! He won't even admit that he likes and wants to protect Haruka from the giant monsters he has been fighting this whole time to his own tulpa and he's apparently supposed to get married to her in six episodes? Insane!

Like, SDF Macross's triangle works because you clearly see Hikaru simp for Minmay, and build up a weird tense understanding and chemistry with the woman he actually ends up with, Misa and he really really acts on both. So even 30+ episodes in with no confession I can buy why they'd be into him.
And there's supposed to be a love triangle here but he really doesn't care for either Haruka or her younger sister? He shows more genuine romantic interest and tension with the fakeish childhood friend who's in two episodes that he violently kills than he has either of them in the past 20 episodes.
He's not particularly interesting or brave or strong or even like, interested in her. He's too caught up in his own bullshit to really care about her or pursue her and his mysteries keep getting pushed back because the plot really has nothing else carrying it forward than the barest crumb of LORE.
And I've watched most of the show and I struggle to really explain what Haruka even sees in Ayato to the point of like, still pursuing his memory a decade or more later, despite objectively speaking meeting better men and women over the course of the show and during her backstory!.
The core issue of RahXephon is that it's supposed to be a romance show, but they got caught up in the sauce of their big brain Evangelion aping too much, and 90% of it is about a grown ass employed woman chasing after a still underage temu Shinji because she liked him a decade ago.
Like you couldn't even have her get a romance subplot with one of the actual guys in the cast? It just had to be 12ish previous lines goon number 3 who's only relevant because he's in her squad? It is episode 20 out of 26 I do not care about this man, just kill him quick and be done with it.
The RahXephon experience is watching cool self realized bisexual women ruin themselves emotionally and financially in pursuit of emotionally unavailable and genuinely uninteresting men.
Here's Holly and Typh-Ea, the main characters of a yuri mecha webnovel I'm writing, my friend @hencanpro.bsky.social drew some real good art for the cover and Typh-Ea's overall design, she's kind of like a constantly coiled spring that can stretch out at any moment! Also she's kind of a jackass.
The fun part of writing an outline is that much like writing the rest of the book, you get to do it over and over again and reread it to death.
Sometimes I'm reminded that I live in a genuinely different world, because I once heard a friend say "The world hasn't changed much in the past 100 years" without a single hint of irony and man, if he said that on person it would have been on sight.
If you're a developer ignoring your long-term goals just to shoehorn AI into your product don't forget to add this button for the majority of us. Thanks! πββοΈ
Every now and then you see a post and it just makes you wonder like, why it was posted, to begin with. Like, who cares about that lmao.
Unfortunatel that often ends up not being a choice you get to make, lots of games that are called incredible or super interesting because it was the only one the devs got to make before something happens.
Writing my super robot mechsploitation webnovel Roaring Daimon Typh-Ea, you should check it out if a story about an awkward woman being forced to wield an ancient warmachine by a voice in her head and a woman with rude things to say about her family sounds like your thing.

Roaring Daimon Typh-Ea is really just written for me and a small group of lesbians, but sometimes the capitalism takes over and I end up comparing myself to 'generic AI mech vs human mech (AI assisted writing)' when really I'm just making readslop, I'm only writing this because I want to read it.
My biggest fan recommended this album at some point and yeah, no I fuck with it immensely, big fan of experimentalish hip hop stuff and despite clocking in at 17 songs they have a good hit to miss rate ngl.
My favorite's "The Holiday of Sisyphus", played it on loop for a bit.
>Article about GL/Yuri came out in a mainstreamish publication
>It focuses solely on the male fanbase and seems to treat it as a furtive shipping culture as opposed to an actual genre that has developed over DECADES
>The writer has somehow written about actual yuri works there before
???

"Do not forget it, i can remove you from this transaction" goes so hard
God is there a fucking uhhh, bird language? Like flower language but for birds, what do the geese mean....
Anyway Chapter 7 ultimately felt really good to write and currently feels real good to read and edit so idk man, maybe I should accept that I get the same joy other people 'may' get from 17K view 40 comments two weeks, by doing the work... nah I'll be back to whining about it again later lmao.

What is a Balor? A miserable pile of nanites.
But enough talk⦠Have at you!
(Plods along at 3 base speed and gets shut out of most of the encounter)
I also saw a fairly convincing argument that E33 was praised this much because it wasn't just good, it was also a western game with western aesthetics in a cringe eastern genre, like there was a lot of talk about how it 'saved JRPGs', you know, a genre that still gets blockbuster releases regularly!
Well that's because Indie is a nebulous term that does not have a real legal definition, and it's just a more prestigious term for 'AA' game now.
And tbh making Expedition 33 seem like what all indie games should be is kind of what the people funding awards shows want you to believe.
It probably is still manslaughter but the thing is, unless people knew that she disappeared while hiking with *you* how would anyone else know right? And women aren't reporting it I guess because they don't think anyone would believe them? It's he said she said...
But man I have never seen a more fine cast of women somehow be attracted to such a middling guy like I swear if it wasn't for the mech the MC would be only a quarter as attractive as his ass apparently is. Chicks dig mechs, even the toxic yuri bisexual ones apparently.
See this? QRT with your ghost art.

I think RahXephon makes me feel the way magical girl genre fans must have felt after Madoka came out and suddenly every new magical girl show felt like being that now instead (derogatory).
If you can't reread your own work over and over again because it's the story you wanted to see out in the world that you now *get* to make then you simply aren't good enough yet, keep practicing.
