This week, the Transgender Healthcare page added 7 new items to the timeline. These include multiple cancellations of gender-affirming care and new policies from the DOJ mandating the forced detransition of inmates. Grim stuff.

Brain tumor ate my RN career. Annoyingly helpful. I'm changing the things I can no longer accept. "You know who weren't nice people? Resistors." -- Naomi Shulman "Be kind whenever possible. It's always possible" -- Dali Lama

Hereβs an explainer from Law Dorkβs @Chris Geidner if youβd like to learn more about the specifics of the DOJβs new policyβwhich, fun fact: the administration has previously denied the policyβs existence when pressed in court.

The Infectious Disease Control & Prevention page added 12 new items to our timeline. Amid worrying increases in measles, TB, and whooping cough outbreaks, we are seeing further erosion and politicization of public health organizations and networks.

This is important information but also goddammit people, you need to leave substack, you are assisting in The Horrors
Screenshot of a Medical Xpress article titled βMolecular defect in taste cells causes long-term taste loss after COVID,β dated March 2, 2026. Below the headline is a photo of a person with curly hair sitting at a table, holding a spoon over a cup of cereal, looking bored or unimpressed, suggesting loss of taste or enjoyment of food.

Trump both announced that the United States was going to war with Iran and then later discussed the first deaths of US service members in that war via videos recorded at his Florida resort.
Astonishingly disrespectful of the stakes and impact. I donβt think it will go over well with most Americans.
About every 57k miles driven by Muskβs robotaxis one gets into a wreck. Thatβs four times the rate of humans.
Because of the US-Israeli attack on Iran, I'm unlocking this post for more context on why most evangelical Christians want this war to happen:

Iβm so fucking sick of waking up to an unhinged President and his vengeful bullshit every single day
The U.S. military is not any presidentβs plaything. The Constitution puts the responsibility on Congress alone to decide whether and when to take on the profound costs of war.
Call if you possibly can.

They hired a British tourist on holiday in a foreign country?
The US is broadly a country that likes to invest in science. Even among Republicans this is true. But we are governed by an administration that is opposed to science, and is using procedural tools to limit spending and increase political control over the process.
Is this available in other languages anywhere?
This is a type of ICE "ruse," and is a tactic the agency has deployed for decades.
In 2015, ICE went to my former client's house posing as cops and convinced his 16-year-old US citizen niece to call him home from work with a fake story (the "identity theft ruse" explained below), then arrested him.
This isnβt a deferral, itβs a ransom note. The Trump Administration is using kids as pawns in their campaign of retribution against our state.

Appreciated but that would not be clear to someone that relies on a screen reader, they would just hear βimageβ.
Iβm honestly a Luddite when it comes to using AI. What little I understand about its ability to retain what it interacts with feels worrisome to me. The fact that hospitals and clinics are adopting it also makes me nervous. It just feels like another thing that could be used to harm people.
Thatβs nice to know! Sometimes context maters (who an image is of or that itβs a scene from a movie) are they able to capture that? If so thatβs amazing.
I also think it's good acute deaths from Covid have decreased. Yay vaccines making acute cases less severe.
But quality of life turning to shit also hugely negatively impacts folks.
People do die of Long Covid. People also kill themselves because symptoms are unbearable, which is true across chronic illnesses.
While that could work for text, it doesnβt work for images as is demonstrated by the awful auto alt text that is attached to gifs.
Please use alt text when an image is an important part of your message so it's accessible to people who use screen readers including low vision, blind, migraine, autistic. Want info on how to use alt text or resources? Please ask, I'm happy to help. manningkrull.com/digital-phil...
So people who use screen readers can access data visualizations, would you please consider including an accessible format (alt text) when including them in your posts? Instructions on doing so efficiently can be found in this very short article: medium.com/nightingale/...
argh autocarrot!!
I tried to include your name but kept losing to autocorrect. Apologies

Now that CNN and WBD are set to become state media in a sale to Paramount/Oracle/TikTok, it is especially important to support independent media.
