I used to stand on the raised thing in front of the fireplace at my grandparents' ranch and sing along to Lynn Anderson records (holding a candlestick holder for a pretend microphone). Ah, memories.

They were part of 37 dogs going up North. Sometimes cats go, too, but that's still rare.

My socially bonded foster dogs are loaded onto the bus and headed out of Texas. Someplace up North with a rescue that has time to let them find the right furever home (I hope...I always have anxiety and hope when I send my fosters off).

Dropped my socially bonded foster dogs off to get their health certs and catch their ride up North. It's hard for me to say goodbye because I almost never learn how they do once they get outta TX.

I just had the penultimate evening walk with my foster dogs before I take them to go up North to find their furever home(s). I hope they get adopted together as they are socially bonded and one seems to really need the other.

Before 10AM, I had taken care of my 3 dogs, worked out, dropped donations off at the local elementary school, and voted in the runoff election for my state senator. Fingers crossed the rest of the day is as productive.

If you're writing, know that it (probably) is okay to split your infinitives. Garner's Modern Usage (5th ed) spends about 2 pages talking about split infinitives.

For the first time since 2015, I do not have to fill out a FAFSA form. I am so relieved.

Why is DFWCon so good? It has a variety of workshops, for both fiction and nonfiction authors. Registration includes 10 minutes in front of an agent or acquisitions editor to pitch your book. And the vibe is really upbeat. The tl;dr: great workshops and positive attitudes.

Home from DFWCon writers' conference in Hurst, TX for two weeks & I'm still amazed at how good this conference is year after year. If you can come to DFWCon, then I highly recommend it. And if you can't come here, I strongly advise you find a good conference you can go to (near you or online).

I don't think I ever introduced myself here. I am a freelance book editor living in North Texas with my family, dog & sometimes foster dogs. I love working on most character-driven genre fiction, esp romance, fantasy & mystery. I'm not great at social media but I hope to be around semi-regularly.

I have several family members with celiac and once you find the right recipes, so many tasty/yummy choices.
