@ibikebrighton.bsky.social a niche question...I know of this one and its very rare in that its signalised but has no form of street lighting. Do you know why and/or know of any other unlit signalised crossings?

Graphic with quote text from Xavier Brice, Walk Wheel Cycle Trust CEO. 1/2 "Millions of people across the country will benefit from action finally being taken on pavement parking. It’s obvious that everyone should be able to walk or wheel along the pavement.

Thoughtlessly parked vehicles force people to step into the road, risking their lives and compromising their accessibility and independence. In poll after poll over the last few years a clear majority of the population have wanted to see concrete action to stop this."

Xavier Brice quote continued: 2/2 "We welcome the government’s two-part solution. Allowing councils to enforce against “unnecessary obstruction” is a good interim step, but, as ministers acknowledge, it won’t fix the issue.

Now that they’ve agreed to bring in a clear pavement parking law, they must start work on this second step as soon as possible."

Today, @transportgovuk announced plans to tackle pavement parking

This problem affects everyone, with a big impact on vulnerable people inc. those who use wheelchairs or mobility aids, parents with pushchairs and people who are visually impaired

As promised, my written evidence is now on the @cityinfinity.bsky.social website blog. It has also been acknowledged by Parliamentary support.

I hope you understand why I have unusually disabled replies.

One year in prison, one year on licence and a four year driving ban, for killing a cyclist while driving distracted.

This is for a case that took nearly five years to come to trial.
