Itβll probably eventually get there, but as a former long-time Red Cross instructor, I can say that at least they are fairly conservative - and slow - in adopting new skills/changes. They were usually at least a cycle behind AHA on CPR protocols.

And ouch on the asthmaβ¦hope you donβt need to use the inhaler often.
Hate loving it because of why, but I love how quickly this has become accessible to lay people. It was only a very few years ago that this got added to my EMT scope of practice here, and now itβs even more accessible. Thereβs a free dispenser box here in town.
My first (pre-sugar free) modification was brown sugar in the crust. Now I use 1:1 brown Splenda in the crust & 1:1 Whole Earth erythritol & monk fruit blend (usually get at Costco) in the base. Have bumped the sour cream up to a full 16 oz tub, and bake 15 min longer than the recipe states.
Baked NY-style. It started as The Frugal Gourmetβs recipe from his original 1977 cookbook. Dad made it 1st for years & we both did a 1.5 recipe. Basically 3 blocks cream cheese, sour cream, 3 eggs, sugar, vanilla & butter, with crust that is graham cracker crumbs with sugar & butter.
I almost needed a jacket today, and Thursday itβs going to be record high tempsβ¦as in up to 40 degrees above the average (which is in the 50s-60s). π΅βπ«
Sounds like a great tradition! I sadly havenβt been to New Orleans since before Katrinaβ¦was there just 2 months prior for a conference, then in MS for the response (colleagues were in NO).
It took us a bit to discover this one. I think her first request several years ago was for me to figure out how to make my cheesecake sugar free, which I think Iβve finally succeeded getting to where it tastes & has a texture about the same as the sugared one.
Sharing is caring
Sacrilege! π
Just like brownies
I imagine it does! π³
Absolutely! I do this with pretty much any part in a box if itβs not taped/sealed shut.
The dial-up download βspeedsβ were something else.
These were a bit makeshift since I didnβt have proper rye, but still tasty.
And this sounds like a story.
So: basmati works great. I really love the rice componentβ¦itβs almost like Mexican rice that has βpoppedβ a bit. This might even be better than making it with standard white rice.
A bowl of jambalaya with rice, sausage, chicken, & veggies showing.
Oh, that looks good! π
And since Cajun is on the menu, sazeracs are the cocktail du jour.
Have I ever mentioned that these got me through grad school? π₯
Ask and ye shall receive. π π
Making a big olβ pot of Cajun goodness tonight. My favorite jambalaya recipeβ¦trying it with basmati rice tonight since weβve discovered @elleqsabine.bsky.social can eat that due to its low glycemic index. Since basmati is amazing in general Iβm sure it will be great.
Note: biryani attempt next week
A good day for sore tushies
Excellent! My wife did too, though I didnβt get pics of her pink cheeks. π
The good olβ days. π
Not terribly long (Hoppers) but itβs a bit of a drive away so we have a few hours.
Iβm sure sheβs seen me swat though I do generally try to be discreet about it. I jokingly said the other day that I was going to stop being so discreet though since we havenβt as much alone time.
It is a distinctive sound, though perhaps more so to those of us with attuned ears.
This is where βFind Myβ on the iPhone comes in handy. π
Though we almost had that happen when I was spanking a friend on the couch upstairs while she slept downstairsβ¦the night we discovered she no longer slept soundly & consistently. That was a sad day.
Yup. And βpokingβ.
Daughter announced unexpectedly that sheβs going out to see a movie with a HS friend tonight.
So as soon as @elleqsabine.bsky.social is done sitting at her desk for work I can work on making it uncomfortable for her to sit. π
Iβm also always annoyed when I buy a new light fixture or lamp or something & discover it uses a non-standard bulb as Iβm installing it. Why would you do that???
Absolutely not. I canβt count the number of times Iβve thought I had the right type of bulb or right size nut/bolt & then had to shamefacedly turn around & go back to the store.
Most recent time was in December leaving on our trip for daughterβs graduation & having a turn signal go out. π
