And now that we have this hard right uprising going on and wealth beyond imagination being concentrated in fewer hands it become easy for media barrens take over the remaining outlets and force them to their own particular market interests. Taking the viewers with them.

So in effect 3 conservative Corporations took hold of the new dominant means of conveying the news. No longer was accuracy and limits the way. It was as the movie Network pitched it News for ratings. But run by conservative owners.

And when Reagan struck down the Fairness Doctrine that was the flag for them to start racing to divide up the markets. CNN had already taken hold of the centerish position (technically a bit to the right). So since Fox came in flailing after the right MSNBC went technically center right aka Liberal.

Its worth pointing out this all started around the time Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine. It wasn't that the Fairness Doctrine directly affected the Cable Companies. But they had been waiting to see what the govt was going to do before they committed to market based 24hr news channels.

The lack of media coverage about the bombing of the girls elementary schools is shocking.

Its not shocking for a shocking reason. Our media has been utterly coopted. And that is the shocking part. It is expected that a captured media is not going to draw attention to the gross missteps of the one holding them captive.

Rob Reiner would have turned 79 today. He is missed.

I can't get over this, from @jonathankarl.bsky.social. Trump is working the phones to journalists, talking about his war as a "performance."

This is actually a bit of the mask slipping. His mental degradation isn't the typical sort people experience. He is losing the frame of things and who he is supposed to be. His mask keeps slipping. And admitting its all a performance is the Narcissist showing his mask.

Thats more a condemnation of the people still following him than anything else. The GOP has become the party of Lincoln that has lost the ability to read entire quotes. "You can fool some of the people all of the time...." Ooooh say no more.
