vtubers and streamers have taken up the same niche of personality-driven variety and talk shows. in other words, that anime girl you watch is taking up space left behind by the Oprah Winfrey Show

spiritually I was born in 70s
had no cable, so nickelodeon, cartoon network, disney channel, etc. were absolutely exotic to me
meanwhile You've Got Mail is intensely nostalgic to me
i have really broad knowledge of furry stuff and i've realized it's pretty uncommon to know what the scotch burnt rice meme and sabrina online are at the same time. making a detailed "history of the furry fandom" thing is weird. it's hard to relate those two things even though they're both furry
some media is considered "furry" but fandom practice is not as important as subcultural practices like making fursonas
furry is really interesting as a subculture because of how incohesively diverse it is. there's not much of a shared canon like in most subcultures, the thing that keeps everything "furry" is the animal motif
i just started pottery and my first piece ever didn't explode :D i extracted my clay from dirt and since i don't have access to a kiln, fired it in a bonfire
i've also been telling myself to write, draw, and read more. that was probably my promise to myself last year too ๐ญ

they're always so obvious. completely blank profile, only replies to posts abt mare fair. it's like that one inglorious basterds screencap lol
like that one post with the funko pops and the gundams. why is one more Capitalism than another
i think people just like to posture about what effigies of capitalism/whatever they hate. it creates distinctions in taste, it's a tastemaking thing. it's like adorno hating jazz lol
wikipedia text that says According to a study done on the brony fandom, fans of Friendship Is Magic who selected Rarity as their favorite character were more likely to identify as both artists and cosplayers compared to fans of other characters; these fans scored lowest on measures of both general show appreciation and community involvement, though they also reported the highest willingness to openly disclose their interest in the show to others. The research also indicated that fans of Rarity were more likely to report experiencing discrimination related to their fandom participation. Additionally, the study found that this group scored highest on psychological measures of depression, narcissism, and Machiavellianism compared to fans of other characters.[10] citation #10 is Edwards, Patrick; Chadborn, Daniel P.; Plante, Courtney N.; Reysen, Stephen; Redden, Marsha Howze (September 11, 2019).
