it's rather far from the LA city center but the Huntington Library is a gorgeous and incredible site for a day trip, massive gardens and amazing art in galleries throughout the grounds. more of a day trip destination given how big it is though

it's wretched hearing this kind of negativity directed at other artists. i adore gposing but i completely understand how this would kill one's motivation to deal with it around others. IDK how some folks don't understand that if you don't have anything nice to say about fanwork, don't say it at all.

context of the day appears to be the bri/o planned feature addition of map and zone loading in gpose within an inn room, basically integrating the hyperborea plugin into brio which has a lot of folks worried about safety/bannability lmao

he really just puts g'raha in the overenthused work colleague bucket and leaves him in there LMAO...
(i do wonder if doing NG+ would change my mind on this though, i feel like yves was so undercooked as an OC on my first playthrough that i missed out on a lot of scion connections)

yves is rational/self-sacrificing enough himself to understand exactly why exarch would have made the decisions he did during ShB, but he is also emotionally distant/immature enough to just not be able to warm up to him and g'raha after the fact.

just rambling here on account of needing a break from work: - even starting back from ARR yves has never been comfortable with the label of “hero,” but his inbuilt aggro response to it absolutely deepens after The Infamous Line in The Vault - being called a hero for him kinda just pulls him into a flashback of all the times he’s failed to live up to said label (even back to the waking sands massacre). you might as well call the man “second place loser” - you can call him an adventurer or a warrior or honestly even the warrior of light, he just…bears with it. or a title for a very specific objective deed is fine, like when he was formally one of the azure dragoons, and is now eternal grand champion of the arcadion. - but he will never be able to accept being called a hero, savior, etc. logically he knows that he’s helped many people and that they say it out of respect for him, but it is not a kind thing to label him as in his mind. it is not a neutral descriptor - also i headcanon emet-selch as noticing this and trying to antagonize yves with any of his “hero” mentions in MSQ. so that further worsens the associations with the term in his mind

further elaboration on this point, SPECIFICALLY yves's aversion to being called a hero in any way/shape/form. he knows g'raha/exarch can't scrub that association or form of idealization from his mind completely, and so yves cannot fully befriend him in turn.

i was recently thinking about this per someone posting this exarch dialogue snippet, to which my reaction was: "wow yves would have a visceral flinch of disgusted aversion in response to anyone saying this about him. i am so sorry exarch/raha"

and feo ul in particular has been so supportive through yves’s worst trials in ShB!
that being said he definitely has the canonical wol reluctance to calling for feo ul’s aid on top of his stiff personality…so they’re constantly chiding yves for being a heartless sapling 😭

despite yves’s stoic/no-fun exterior he really has a soft spot for the more playful, whimsical tribes and peoples like sylphs, moogles, and pixies by extension too. their pranks and unusual whims are different for him than the cruelty of men, their alien nature is a relief of sorts
