For Once, Public Confidence in Higher Ed Has Increased For the first time in a decade, Americans grew more confident in higher ed, according to a Lumina Foundation-Gallup education survey conducted in June.

42% expressed confidence in the higher ed sector — either a “great deal” or “quite a lot.” That’s up six percentage points. Just 36% had confidence in both 2023 and 2024.
