Good morning! I like to organize my art supplies into smaller curated sets. This is my new portrait oil pastel selection of 30, inspired by the sennelier set of 24.

Giving my hands some rest these days, almost ready to paint again. :)

I have a connection with hummingbirds as well. The best friend of my youth passed during covid. When we were teenagers she had a big garden and hummingbirds got trapped in the courtains of her large window constantly. She would gently catch them in her hands and release in the garden. RIP both.

It lends itself to more expressive marks, but you can also dilute it with medium and use it as regular oil paint. They are expensive, so I only have a couple of colors, but I'll try to make some myself. I already made my own oil pastels with success.

Oil bars are regular oil paints that they make solid by adding a wax blend to it. Here in Brazil there is an artisanal brand that uses beeswax and carnauba wax. Just enough to make the outer layer dry but the inside of the bar remains creamy.

I'm having a lot of fun with the last larger ones. I recently tried using oil bars for the first time and loved the mark making possibilities.

Yes, proper stretcher bars are expensive, and the cheaper wood strainers are not very good for larger paintings, unfortunately. Also it is an upfront expense, this way I can only purchase the strechers for the paintings I like.

The wrinkles disappear after it is primed. First I seal the raw canvas with an acrylic base product then I apply multiple layers of acrylic primer (gesso). From the first layer they already disappear. It is very cost effective and also I can prepare the surface to my taste ,smooth or coarse etc...

Started two new paintings this week, look at the size of those things 😱. Never painted this large (150x100cm). Painting on unstretched canvas is freeing me from some anxieties.

Adobe made the decision to ditch their user base of artists, photographers and designers to cater to ai bros, so let them have it. They are the new user base now, let's see how that goes, hahaha.

I prefer the inked version too. The pencil is softer and realistic, but the inked has more impact for me. Both beautiful.🌼

My 2 cents.
I think it depends. There was a trend of painting over thrifted paintings a while ago. Some were like collaborations with the original artist which is nice, some really funny ones and good spirited, but others were straight out offensive, they would just mock the old paintings.
