At least it’s better than wanting to kiss the Blarney Stone.
A dimple mug full of pale ale.
How much does the glass impact on your drinking experience?
Do you have a favourite type, or does it not bother you what your beer is served in?

Heading here in just under two weeks and then to Austria to snowboard. BUT, the weather isn’t looking great. SO, might do a day trip to Salzburg and/or Innsbruck. Happy to take any suggestions.
And, I’ve do drink beer.
Right out of the gates. 🤦♂️
This is a total disaster. Ppl may laugh at blogs, but even mine is exponentially better than this. Writing and editing. And my writing is terrible. Forget about editing. www.mashed.com/2100290/why-...
at 24 euros it might be the most affordable thing they sell 😂
I recently foind out Lukr makes a stout nozzle. Marlowe Artisinal Ales is playing around with one and i wrote a few words about it. www.casketbeer.com/home/2026/2/...

Headline for an article about a brewery red flag the should “send you packing” with an image inserted on the original of a British-style dimple mug used with Lukr faucet.
That’s better than a lager, but I prefer a tulip pint for my bitter.
That’s goddamn right. The worst one, too.
English ale style dimple mug.
If you’re savvy enough to put “Hladinka” on your menu and then serve the beer in this mug, you’re doing your customers a disservice, IMHO.
Agreed. Chris Lohring of Notch did an excellent write up on it: open.substack.com/pub/chrisloh...

Anyone else see virtue signaling in the beer industry yesterday?
Thanks!
I just asked my bro’s friend, an expat living in Bamberg, a few q’s about Munich. He refused to answer, took a jab at Munich and instead sent me info on beer culture in Bamberg. He said I’ve shamed myself for not having already been to Bamberg. I feel like he’s really become a German. Best response.

Proper drinkware?
I haven’t posted much lately for a few reasons (including trying to wrap up my work on the history of lining beer vessels with pitch in the US), but I definitely have several posts lined up for 2026.
Second thought is that the timing is great as I have been thinking about this lately. Some folks have suggested other means to get my writing out there, but I like the blog. I’m very content with it and satisfied with the amount of traffic it gets.
I have a lot of thoughts on this, but my initial one is a big thanks to Jess and Ray for their support. It means a lot.
A bottle of Little Book bourbon.
Hard to think of a better day to have a pull of this…
Image of a new zine called “Stories from the Cellar” by Carla Waclawski.
I’m totally smitten with this compact new zine made by Carla Waclawski of Marlowe Artisanal Ales. It’s everything that is amazing about this format.

The owner is from Manchester. So, yeah, they’re a pro-sparkler pub.
Presenter speaking next to a screen at a cask beer event.
Forty people showed up last night to a northern New York suburb for a paid event to learn about cask beer. I think that’s good news. Great job, Ambleside Pub!
