The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. They’re tapping in to get in on the violence.
And then he bragged about it on X later.

The doctrine of a "rapture" is a 19th century invention. Literally for 90% of the time between Jesus Christ and now, Christians did not believe in a rapture. Later, people like Clarence Larkin popularized "dispensationalism" which made its way into the Scofield Bible and became the foundation for all kinds of theological fiction like Hal Lindsey's "Late Great Planet Earth" and Tim Lahaye's "Left Behind" novels and movies. Literally none of this is Biblical. It's not even Christianity. It belongs exclusively to American evangelicalism. That is, these eschatological teachings are practically unknown among the countless millions of Christians outside the United States. So, when you see people pointing to current events in North Africa and southwest Asia and saying "End Times".... that's not Biblical theology. That is dispensational fan-fiction cosplaying as truth.
Reminder that A LOT of what is being used in Christian nationalism is 100% added to the Bible and not original text.

I’ve gotten THREE EMAILS asking about my t-shirt size even though my day off is in the books and EVERYONE KNOWS my husband is gone.
How many times do I have to say, “no thank you. My husband is dead and I’m grieving that week.”
I get some folks may not know, but I’m really fucking tired.
What’s worse? They make custodial staff and food service SERVE US instead of catering out. It’s also during finals week…our busiest time.
It is degrading in every possible way.
I take a personal day each year.
I’ve unintentionally planned my husband’s celebration of life that week. I’m not going.
I loathe our school’s version of “mandatory fun day”.
They make faculty attend.
We aren’t allowed to do our actual job.
If we don’t go, we are retired to take a personal day.
We’re forced to wear t-shirts and compete.

Ask former students and other professionals what they think about the instructors and curriculum.
Ensure anonymity when asking these questions.
Red flags 🚩
Before joining a program, ask yourself
Do any marginalized students graduate from it? How many and how often?
Are the instructors socially diverse? How many?
Do they have a wellness program?
Is counseling available?
Is there appropriate mentorship?
Do professionals recommend it?
In my current position, I don’t have these problems. I do, however, make certain to talk with students who are part of a marginalized community to make certain they understand what the 🚩 are in academia.
If you are a, “hope for the best and well wishing” kind of person, you might miss the 🚩
If we ask for help, we get stigmatized. If we have a trauma response and report what’s going on, we get stigmatized.
So many women just suffer silently without support professionally in academia.
There is no recourse. People will treat you like 💩 because you being harassed is inconvenient
You can only advocate for yourself so much. If people have made up their mind about you, it does not matter what evidence you have.
This is a huge problem in academia, particularly with women and the trauma they experience in their lives

I still am dealing with the after effects of trauma where my brain is cruel to me because I was treated poorly by some men and a woman in academia.
Despite being praised and finishing all of my exams (with exams left over that I did not need to take), I was still treated poorly.
Then women get re-traumatized having to deal with men (and women) who are being negligent, disrespectful, and professionally harmful from the consistent blackballing of women who had no support or understanding in dark times of their lives.
These women get thrown under the bus professionally.
Since a lot of men do not experience life the way women do, they label women as being a problem, chaotic, emotional, and irrational
When the fact of the matter is, they just don’t believe women and that women experience life often with horrific trauma
This is a systemic problem, and I’m sick of it
Often times my brain is quite cruel to me in reminding me about periods in my life where I was struggling and systems failed me.
I cringe at the way I responded because I was being traumatized at the time.
Academia rarely has support for harassed and abused women. They often punish these women.
I’ve been called all kinds of things by lesser men and women when I’ve advocated for myself and the marginalized.
Complacency is lethal to progress particularly in terms of women’s rights.
