It’s not complicated. He was the Democratic candidate chosen by the Democratic primary. Pragmatically, we are going to have a hard time getting people to “vote blue no matter who…” next time around.
Lots of people found reasons to endorse him.
Framing this as a question of rights of the candidate is a curious choice. Endorsements aren’t a right. It sounds like you’re defending intraparty score-settling. Personally I’m against it.
He probably thinks he’s serving America’s interest. Does a refusal to endorse the candidate chosen by the Democratic Party primary process, in this historical moment, serve American interest? That’s the contention point.
Firstly: “Serving another country before your own” is not the same as “serving another country than there own.” Secondly: Schumer’s the Senate minority leader, not just some random private citizen with an opinion.
