So many people came to say that science saves lifes, and science is truth. cool!

New paper by Yulia Sevryugina:
Self-plagiarism: A retrospective study of its prevalence and patterns across scientific disciplines
"image and entire article duplications are primary causes of self-plagiarism-related retractions"

This is a way to nowhere. The more you push the accountability motive, the more the politicians will tie themselves to the leader as the fear of future justice adds to the immediate incentives of being a part of a larger, ruling group
I am very proud to announce that my PhD paper finally came out in Cell! In this *very* collaborative study, we develop and release a deep-learning approach to predict neuron type identity from their electrical signature. doi.org/10.1016/j.ce... 1/16 ๐งต
(not so) kind reminder: when posting on social media, be ready to be misunderstood. Or edit your post until no ambiguity is left. Or don't post.
Russian theoretical physicist based in Sweden with a clear anti-war stand faces deportation and entrance ban for 20 years for no reason. It looks like the reason was that she visited Russia for defending thesis or doing some other duties as a PhD student.

There's a movement in neuroscience suggesting we should be pursuing bigger bets with larger teams. I think there's a case for doing a bit of this, but I think it's a bad idea to prioritise it for two reasons, and a good case for saying we should be moving in the exact opposite direction. ๐ง ๐งช
run a test code, let's say test . py
it shold look like
(myenv) > python test py
In R you're required to install packages too. The way to set an env in python:
1. install anaconda
2. Open Anaconda Cmd window, it looks like usual cmd but more grey.
3. conda create -n myenv
4. conda activate myenv
Now use either conda install or pip install of any package you'd like to install.

2/ Replay on 0.25x as many times as necessary. After you id the jump and confirmed with the text on screen, replay from 5s prior to takeoff and focus on the entrance, each jump entry has its rhythm, you'll start feeling it with time.

There's a new USFSA policy now, and it will most probably be adopted by ISU soon.
Thanks for compiling this list! Wonderful tables!
The Russian traffic laws and their enforcement are beyond ridiculous. Edward Bil case in 2021 put the spotlight on the issue but nothing happened. Basically the whole system works for allowing drivers to drive and pay fines rather than prevent deaths and injuries. Zagitova is not an exception there
sorry, missed or forgot.
What about junior men final results ar the same cup? :)

Another huge influx of colleagues to BlueSky this week, so let me attach the fully updated Neurophysiology starter pack for anyone interested.

i know a couple of labs who will be happy for a postdoc with your skills. usually patchclampers don't have an issue finding a postdoc. maybe you narrow the search to a too specific geographic region/research questions?..
New work reveals the impact of anxiety & depression on PhD students.
"Anxiety and depression can have a substantially detrimental impact on graduate studentsโ experiences [..] and likely also contribute to increased time to degree and student attrition."

not necessarily the repeat part, but general perspective . There exists some belief that we waste much of our time investigating how brain circuits compute things and interact with each other in monkeys while this can be done this way in another in mice.
I'm afraid a lot see it the other way around.
#Clearsky is back! clearsky.app In the LISTS tab you can see in which starter packs you are included, and in the BLOCKED BY tab, well...
Does anyone know the "bosses" at bluesky? How about asking for a ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ? It doesn't seem to go against the spirit of the place and it's mega useful.
Facts matter. Science saves lives. Anti-science destroys them.
