Morning.
Anybody watching Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing on C4? It's revealing beautifully that wealthy people are a problem.

This is American propaganda using footage from previous American propaganda. This is how America has presented justice in TV and cinema for generations. It's naff, yeah, but it's very American. I'm only surprised it's taken so long to do this.

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.] From off-screen a newsreaderโs commentary comes: NEWSREADER: Extraordinary images here of an expat in Dubai [The influencerโs eybrows raise slightly] โฆHaving their first ever geopolitical thought. [CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencerโs face. The intervieweeโs name is David Jones]. CLIVE MYRIE: To explain the significance of this moment weโre joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent DAVID JONES: Clive, this is momentous It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: โDubai Is Brilliantโ. [Pointing at the screen, the influencerโs expression still the same] You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self. It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expatโs previous thoughts. CLIVE MYRIE: Which areโฆ? DAVID JONES: You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes, I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa. CLIVE MYRIE: And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days? DAVID JONES: I think we can expect to see: โI Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax Toโ CLIVE MYRIE: Mmm. [Ends]
I'm so very sick of this 'poor little rich people' nonsense. Hand-to-mouth? I don't think so.
Please stop telling me to fear Islam. "US military commanders have been invoking extremist Christian rhetoric about biblical โend timesโ to justify involvement in the Iran war to troops." www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...

I'd like to know who 'Democracy Volunteers' are and how they recruit. Their attitude, in response to legitimate questions from journalists in the area they're commenting on, is very odd.

Anti Muslim hatred shouldn't be accepted or normalised. In the Labour Party "... there is no real moral authority to speak on hate and division, and thus any authority to heal or rectify it" www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
It'll be interesting to see if traditional/legacy/mainstream media continues to obsess over Reform and its apparent shaking up of parliamentary politics or if it starts to centre Greens in discussion too ...
I've not heard mention of the muslamic rayguns for ages! ๐
"This was a jeer from two so-called men to a child," she said. "My son was really frightened."
Fretting about unproven coercion and so-called 'family voting' while children of political activists are literally abused in the street.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Weird that Reform is OK with Irish citizens voting but not commonwealth ones. Wonder what the difference could be?
The whole 'family voting' thing is a racist conspiracy created by Tories. It's now being used by the hard right to justify further paranoid racism. If there is coercion it'd happen long before reaching the polling booth ... and there's nothing to say Reform voters aren't doing it!
In case youโre wondering how MAGA is taking the news. Letโs just say the group chat is in full meltdown mode.
Hereโs what the loudest right wing voices are saying:
๐ Tucker Carlson: the decision to attack Iran โabsolutely disgusting and evil.โ

Now The Elegance of the Hedgehog - Muriel Barbery ...
Reform paranoia is wild!
Trumpโs attack on Iran has me seriously questioning the legitimacy and value of the FIFA Peace Prize
Matt Goodwin, Julie Burchill, Paul Emery, Allison Pearson, Brendan O'Neill ... all having a meltdown at Reform's right wing populism losing to progressive wokeist Greens.
I'm watching the Take That documentary. I'd forgotten how cute Robbie Williams was when he was young.
The current argument of the British right is that Muslims turned out in "blocs" with "family voting" to cast their ballots for a party led by a gay Jewish man, and this shows that multiculturalism has failed, voting is "sectarian" and we are in a crisis.
Hmmmmmm.
Imagine devoting your entire career to selling the idea that the British public hates wokery and is clamouring for radical right wing populism, only to then be defeated in an actual election by the most left wing possible coalition of politicians and activists in the country.
It's got to hurt
