I had a ton of fun chatting with @loganpetersen.bsky.social

A little too much fun because I had to be up quite early the next day, but that’s what happens when you like what you’re doing

Kick off your shoes, get in your beanbag chair, and hang out with us

It looks to us like @cardgametrash.bsky.social called it on the theme of the next #fabtcg set. Don't believe us?

The proof is in the pudding and the pudding (in this case) is Austin's AGE Premium article, which is now FREE πŸ‘ TO πŸ‘ READ πŸ‘ on our website

For me, the appeal of FAB has always been that if I lose a game, it’ll (most of the time) be my own fault

In my mind, the people that play the best SHOULD win the tournament and that’s the sign of a format with competitive agency

It also means that if a rando works hard they can win just the same

My point wasn’t that they were playing it, but that they were consistently performing well at it. I think what I am responding to is the notion that SAGE inherently doesn’t give players the agency to do well at competitive events

I guess from my perspective I haven’t felt that the viable hero spread isn’t too far off from CC (while that seems contradictory to the PQ data). Though if it is too narrow I do trust LSS to wield the ban-hammer effectively

This has been my experience too. Exactly why I felt like a vibe check was necessary

Based on my one Calling, I could definitely see a world where Bof3 Top 8 is employed. SD was small but it was still over by 2p or 3p each day

I do completely agree that Blitz was screwy and not viable as a competitive format. Kudos to your friend rocking their Skirmishes, but I don’t think comparing R10 of a Calling and a hefty amount of Skirmish wins are the same thing though

This has been my experience as well. I definitely still feel like my decisions matter AND that the rule-set and card pool are more accessible for newer players

What about Jude and TaoTao performing well with off-kilter decks? Don’t we expect to see a couple top dogs and some unique ways to attack them? Isn’t that what a competitive format is all about?

To be fair I’m not trying to be inflammatory. I just wanna understand the argument

I hope that’s the case. I also hope I’m just seeing more negativity because of the algorithms and that it doesn’t actually reflect how the majority of people feel

It's hard for me to reckon why people think that SAGE is not viable as a competitive format when our standings consistently look like this

The best players in the room are still winning. Doesn't that mean the format gives players agency to win and is, therefore, competitive?
