U.S. Scientists Warn That Trump’s Cuts Will Set Off a Brain Drain
When the Trump administration froze this Nobel Prize–winning neuroscientist's research funding, he received an email from China offering to relocate his lab to any city and university of his choice, with guaranteed funding for 20 years.

YouTube Loosens Rules Guiding the Moderation of Videos
YouTube has encouraged its moderators to leave up videos that may break the platform’s rules, including those with derogatory slurs or misinformation, as long as they're considered to be in the public interest. The shift comes as the GOP pressures YouTube to stop moderating content.

For decades a few regions of the Moon were poorly known due to limitations in the Lunar orbiter data. A little of this could be 'filled in' a bit using radar data which 'illuminated' a bit of the region independently of the Sun.
Left: Lunar Orbiter based airbrush map of the Moon showing the blank 'Luna Incognita' region of the time. Center: My 1988 airbrush portrayal based on various sources, including Lunar Orbiter and earth based radar coverage. Right: The LRO height data rendered with lighting similar to the others.
#SciArt
As a kind of climax to my attempts to fill in the post Lunar Orbiter/Pre LRO 'Luna Incognita' I used all available references to see what could be done. The mapped Moon of the time is at left, my airbrush portrayal is in the middle, a shaded relief from the LRO data is at right.

Artist's impression of the Gaia space telescope in front of the Milky Way. Gaia looks kind of like a sunhat. I've added a little halo above it. The Milky Way has a glowy centre and you can see the dusk tracks in the disk. You can also see the bright blobs of the Magellanic Clouds below the Milky Way
The amazing @esa.int Gaia telescope is taking its last measurements today
Gaia has had a tremendous impact on astronomy. Without the easy to access (and use) data releases, a lot of the work I do would be impossible
Thank you, Gaia and team! Can't wait for the future data releases! 🔭🧪

The Battlestar Galactica 2003 miniseries was really quite effective.
In three hours, so much information and lore, the stakes are perfectly set, end-of-the-world vibe, Adama, Roslin, Baltar are already fascinating, even the space battle is great despite a glaring lack of budget.

2. A physicist proposes a radical solution.
3. The solution seems too weird to be real. Everyone assumes it must be a convenient trick.
4. Eventually, everyone realizes it wasn't a trick, and reality is in fact weirder than they expected. (9/n)
