For decades a few regions of the Moon were poorly known due to limitations in the Lunar orbiter data. A little of this could be 'filled in' a bit using radar data which 'illuminated' a bit of the region independently of the Sun. This paper finds that the rings are no older than 400M years. Sharks date back to at least the Late Ordovician Period, 450M years ago.
