They keep getting new, good ones at Aldi!
It's "First Snow" at the moment.
Stare deep into the bookshelf mirror, for it reveals all!
Went through the studio bookshelves today, taking perverse joy in dumping books by creators I’ve decided were d-bags.
Covers by Dan Panosian, Dave Wachter and Fernando Blanco. Dave is the co-creator on Bad Thoughts, and he is amazing!
It’s been a long time since I had new comics out as a writer. That changes soon & in a huge way! The graphic novel that kicked off the Extraction franchise, back in print & in color! And the zero issue for my first new creator-owned series in years, Bad Thoughts. All from @ignitionpress.bsky.social
The NY Times dared me to spend a solid ten minutes staring at this Klimt masterpiece this morning. I could zoom and pan, but I had to stay focused on the Woman in Gold for the duration. What a bright, glorious way to start my day in these dark times.
Remember when portfolios were a thing? I loved them. Dug these out of the basement today. Gorgeous work by Adams, Anderson, Chaykin, Golden, Jones, Kirby, Sienkiewicz, Wrightson and more. Most portfolios were signed. Such a lovely way for artists to share their work.
The world was saved because a human being didn't trust a computer.
I was confused by the other credits, including my man Hester. There must have been a backup story.
Good lord... gasp. This Jack Davis cover is being auctioned at Heritage, and I just spent a full half hour studying the scan. So much genius here, but what keeps drawing me in is the contrast of line in the two figures, and the inking on the background guy. So casually perfect. He made it look easy.
I love it so much. Here's the page I own. Tones were done on a separate sheet.
The press for BAD THOUGHTS (and other awesome @ignitionpress.bsky.social books) has begun!

I defy anyone to watch this clip (from Get Low) and say that any screen actor ever did it better. #robertduvall www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWth...
He'd be a legend for that and The Apostle alone.
RIP to my favorite film actor.
Y’all remember that the Joker is in The Thin Man, right?
Ugh. Not even sure I’m going to try.
Byrne was a big fan of that job, too.
I bought this page at my local comic book shop in 1982 or so. I believe I paid $35. I was totally captivated by the idea of original art. This one of one thing on which the artists actually toiled. Magic.
Random Friday Art Share from my collection: This is the first original art I ever purchased. A Savage Sword of Conan page by John Buscema and Tony DeZuniga. Impeccable work by these two giants. Tony is my favorite of all of the b&w Buscema Conan stuff. He doesn't overwhelm like Chan, Alcala, etc.
The appliance:
Henry Perry, the father of Kansas City barbecue, and the creator of a sauce recipe that was "harsh and peppery". Arthur Bryant would eventually make it a tad sweeter when he took over the business & it is still the greatest sauce in the world.
And yes, folks ate some crazy shit a hundred years ago.
Tony Salmons.
