These are the 4 things AI can do well:

•Clean up your email inbox (badly)
•Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party
•Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself
•Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday

You can see why we need to base our economy around it

Countries that have adopted electric vehicles the fastest will suffer the least from oil price spikes caused by the US/Israel attack on Iran.

NZ is not one of those, thanks to Luxon’s poor leadership.

I am wearing a dress today, and am
much more comfortable ’presenting femme’ when I don’t conceptualise my appearance as being femme.

I remember an acquaintance telling me that it didn't matter that all my photographic work had been scraped and that my business had tanked, because that work appeared in public so my say didn't matter. Hmm, remind you of rape culture just a bit, maybe?

Excerpt from a New York review of books article on the Fed quoting Leah Downey writing:
The power to create money is bound up with the democratic project. Who gets to decide if, when, and on what terms we create money influences how we relate to one another and thus the possibilities for collective self-government.

I dunno guys it sounds like we are ready for a Nicholas Oresme Revival, who’s with me?

These days, it’s not as simple as people getting fed deepfakes and being fooled. Political scientist Steven Feldstein says that as people have become savvier about AI, the disinformation content creators have also become more sophisticated in how they present things, resulting in a “shallowfake,” which is a more subtle manipulation.

“Rather than present something that would look completely false, [they] present shades of the truth, manipulate what’s there,” says Feldstein. Meaning content creators provide details and nuance that’s good enough to get past people’s bullshit detectors, but could still be misconstruing reality to represent a specific viewpoint. This can happen by only slightly manipulating images, like a real Iraqi airport photo which depicted smoke over a U.S. military base in Iraq, but on March 1 was changed using AI to show a giant fireball explosion. Or it could be sharing an image out of context, like using an old photo and saying it just occurred.

“You’re seeing that happen in increasing levels,” says Feldstein, author of The Rise of Digital Repression: How Technology is Reshaping Power, Politics, and Resistance. “It’s become very sophisticated and also a critical part of geopolitics.”

Look out for "shallowfakes," a more subtle manipulation being used to try and get past people's bullshit detectors.

How? EVs are expensive. A second hand petrol car can be bought for a couple of grand.

NZ had started down the pathway to cut its dependence on oil and gas. Then Luxon/Willis/Bishop/Jones/Seymour reversed course. Looks pretty stupid now.

So, if anyone has a kelpie bitch in the lower south island, and wants pups from a pretty amazing, if nerdy, kelpie...?
I would change my life for one of his pups. He is the most amazing dog I've ever met.

Fortunately we have had a many years ongoing priority to reduce transport inflation by having the mass movement of internal goods focused on rail fulled by renewable electricity.

(listens to earpiece) Oh No.
