This should be old news to everyone, but we have an insane spoiled brat in charge of our country. "I will not sign other bills until this is passed", nanny nanny boo-boo. My hope is the states, including my own which is all mail-in ballots, will say fuck you to the orange führer.
I live in a heavily tourist dependent area. While I hate to see small businesses suffer, there are so many Republicans around here that I hope it all grinds to a halt. Hit them in the pocketbook. That's the only way these people will take any notice. Very interested to see how this summer goes.

I wish them the best. In my bookselling days, moving the store was the worst thing we could have ever done for the business. Our hand was forced by a greedy landlord. Months of people calling and asking if we had gone out of business, longtime customers lost for good, nearly two years of chaos.

One thing we latched onto was that program where people could buy ebooks through our website and we’d get credit. I learned to roll with the times rather than reject them. You have to or you won’t survive.
I think everyone pointing out that “there is a block button” is on the same level as someone spamming unwanted movie trivia.
Also, the obvious response to the “footprint” argument is buying used books means buying something that already exists and keeps them out of the landfill. Physical and digital books can coexist; it’s not a contest.
I ran an indy bookstore for over a decade. I was asked daily if we thought ebooks would put us out of business. It wasn’t a problem, and as time went on there was a resurgence of people returning to physical media. Reading on a screen at length gives me a headache, but if people are reading, great.
Colorado Springs has every kind of donut shop now, but jelly is a tall order. If you want Fruity Pebbles with cream filling, no problem! Plus the big guys like Dunks seem to have given up powdered jelly donuts in favor of those granulated sugar ones. This is a basic donut, people!
