We are covering the recent executive orders in the US and the impact on the scientific community. If you have been affected then feel free to get in touch (anonymous or otherwise) by sending an e-mail to physics.world AT ioppublishing DOT org🧪⚛️
There's always trade-offs. Decentralisation gives you complete control of your data, and makes censorship literally impossible but also makes it less intuitive to use.
"Disconnections" was right there!
They don't put egg wash on them! I always thought it was to make it visually easier to tell which ones are vegan. You can use maple syrup to give it that shiny finish.
I'm afraid you might have to do this, for the culture 🙏
"Fines for violating European Law are kinda like tariffs on American companies"
No Mark, they are absolutely not.

Hello world! Now that we're getting round to updating our website, Glasgow's Optics group is now on Bluesky. Follow us for research updates!
Ah yes, google.blog my favourite search engine
This ^ . We want to see more here in BlueSky!!! @glasgowcc.bsky.social
Congrats! 🎉
I believe it was for security purposes. You don't want a malicious actor owning google.com with a slightly different unicode "o".
That's a nightmare scenario for so many companies. Surely you keep limited access to support a smooth transition?
Polarisation profile of a vector vortex beam with 6fold rotational symmetry
❄ Are you dreaming of a ... new colour scheme for polarisation singularities, highlighting radial (purple) and azimuthal (blue) components? Superposition of right LG_0^(-2) and left LG_1^2. I love how adding two modes with 2fold symmetries gives a 6fold symmetry! ❄
(related experiments coming soon)
Sharing this again as some new (familiar) faces have joined! 💡🧪 #AMO #physics
The most festive Cesium atoms I've ever seen. Amazing work! 🎁🎄
It should be updated now!
Absolutely! It should be updated now
No hat in my VLC cone (fedora) :(
Great opportunity if you're looking to do research at @uofglasgow.bsky.social! ⬇️

I should mention that a message in your signature that says "I do not expect you to respond to my email outside your working hours" serves the same purpose as scheduling in my head!
Nowadays it's very easy to schedule emails to be sent in advance, so my take on this is that you should feel free to send emails to your heart's content, but schedule them for the start of the next working day. If anything, it signals that you don't expect your colleagues to action it!
I'd like to be included! Is the keyword just the #quantum hashtag?
I love that we can tell they're official by the domain even though their team hasn't finished setting up the account 😅

All done! I was pleasantly surprised to see so many already here!
I've made a starter pack for AMO physicists - including some groups and the photonics feed. Feel free to share with friends and colleagues joining BlueSky. Let me know in the replies if you would like to be added ⚛️ go.bsky.app/2p1Ufwu
