An excerpt of a Good Omens fanfic. It reads: With a good measure of whining, groaning, grumbling, and grunting, Crowley twisted his limbs and made a show of struggling to get his costume on. “Why couldn't we just miracle these? Why are we meant to be out in public trying these on?” He whined. “Because it's part of the fun. We have a four year old daughter who has been talking about this since the Summer. Speaking of four year olds, ours is much better behaved than the ancient demon, whose age is immeasurable, standing here in a fit of pique over a silly costume. Now move your arms so I can help you with that zipper.” Crowley let out a long sigh and let Aziraphale help him. “Personally, I would have been plenty happy to wear cat ears and call it a day,” Aziraphale said, zipping Crowley’s costume with a flourish and booping him on the nose. Crowley laughed loud enough to be heard through the rest of the store. “You? You would have been happy with just a pair of cat ears? The one and only Aziraphale would have happily skipped out on a chance to get all decked out in costume for Halloween? You've been giddy about Halloween and dressing us up since Tartan was brand new. There’s nowhere in any universe where you would be happy in a simple pair of cat ears, Angel.”

His heart quickened and Tartan, who had been quiet for the better part of an hour, began kicking. It’s possible that he briefly short-circuited before the fullness of Newt's announcement hit him. “Come here.” Crowley stood and opened his arms to pull Newt into a hug. Newt felt tingly all over, in a way that told him everything was alright and he was loved and accepted exactly for who he was - not that there was any doubt. It was just nice to be reminded. Aziraphale had hugged him after lunch and now he was in Crowley's arms feeling the same cocoon of protection and love. Anathema had described that to him, saying it was because they wrap their wings around them during hugs. Newt felt he truly understood that now. Crowley, for all of his intimidating presence - though Newt knew what was underneath - and sarcastic wit, was pouring acceptance and true family love into Newt at that very moment. “I’m so proud of you, Newt,” Crowley whispered in his ear. “I love you so much.” He kissed his cheek and his forehead.
