The gospel is not an escape from earth to heaven but God’s reign coming from heaven to earth.

I’m more convinced every day that political idolatry is the besetting sin of America—both on the left and the right.

If pride (making much of self) is the root of all sin, then worship (making much of God) is the root of all holiness.

We need the humility to know that apart from Christ we can do nothing (John 15:5) and the confidence that through Christ we can do all things (Phil 4:13).

I'm so glad that God has called me to Los Angeles. I love this city. And not just in the sense that I like it a lot, but in the sense that I'm sacrificially committed to its good. There's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be.
