Stopped to watch the Canada geese picking over a just-shorn cornfield this morning. The last of the leaves are lingering on the apple trees in the background, but with the wind storms weβve been having they wonβt last much longer. Autumn has been glorious this year.

March arrives with an early warmth that almost instantly greens the land. I am feverishly hoping for stone fruit this summer after our valley lost all its crops last year due to late freezes. Nothing is foreseeable anymore, but there is sunshine and birdsong and a fresh month to wade into.
