Loved chairing this panel, hearing a youth, sector and system level perspective, although I don't think I realised how teacherly I look when I do my introductions π
How can teachers use stories to encourage curiosity, empathy and engagement in the classroom? A thought-provoking discussion with AQA's @annatreth.bsky.social, writer Joseph Coelho, and children's author Manjeet Mann. #EducationFest
Loved being on this panel geeking out about all things curriculum and assessment π€
A Sunday morning read on possessions, loss and memory - made me smile more than you'd think from the title! www.thisverymoment.com/p/the-things...
Agree! I very always find something of interest/ to learn when I drop in. And the tone is very much more constructive and civil than other platforms. Long may that continue!
That has gone very quickly indeed! Wow! Congrats - and what a lucky school π
Yes, same here. Was a stretch making London rent work on an unqualified wage for that first year, even in a shared house.

Yikes. Some slightly depressing stats for a Sunday morning from @samfr.bsky.social π
Crikey, the views from the Manchester train home are particularly gorgeous today π
This is hugely important π
Finally getting to the brilliant Superhead series on @bbcradio4.bsky.social by @johndickenssw.bsky.social. Definitely worth a listen to get an overview of the rise and fall of one of the early Superheads www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
Sunday morning reading: Coming of Age by Lucy Foulkes. A brilliant if brutal read about adolescence. Would highly recommend, though it will get you thinking about your teenage self!
Finally sitting down to some half term reading - Exam Nation by @sammywright.bsky.social - with my cat ensconced on my lap π
βWe canβt wait for a digital big bang,β says AQA CEO Colin Hughes in @schoolsweek.bsky.social. βWe must keep making incremental progress to maximise its potential for better, fairer assessment.β bit.ly/3YgsSqX
It was lovely to have you along for drinks... Though now I have FOMO about Will Young π

Ha ha. Perfect π€
I just ordered my copy yesterday π
I see Helen Hayes has been appointed to Chair the Education Select Committee, which bodes well. Was slightly staggered to see this - though I don't know why as I've been following education policy for a good long while!
I'm delighted you're joining the team! π
Same here! This was as high tech as the equipment in my classroom got π€
Calling all MAT CEOs, Directors of Education, and Directors of Mathematics with primaries.
I would like to invite you to attend this full day of CPD at which I will describe how to significantly improve standards in primary mathematics.
Iβd love to see you there completemaths.com/elevate-math...
This is smart stuff. Will take a proper look but thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears I'm assuming has gone into it π
Agree. Held the line on accountability well. Though there might be an underestimation of how hard it is to recruit and retain inspectors. That's a biggy.
Just listened. Pretty balanced I thought. And yes, you're right, schools will pick the one that they're best in to market and why wouldn't you π€
Interesting. So the threshold for intervention is still the same (apart from the 2 RI judgements). With ineffective safeguarding still a thing that can bring leadership and management down. The question of whether it's the consequences that are the issue def stands then π
Or if you're only inadequate on half the judgements that you'll receive intervention? Maybe it'll be clearer once the full doc is published tomorrow π€·π»ββοΈ
I'm guessing this will come in the full publication tomorrow but I'm not sure exactly what that threshold for intervention will be across the four graded areas - is it if you're three quarters not good? π
