For a while, we've had a number of donors asking when we would be bringing back the classic AHIP House Party. While we had to keep things under wraps, we're thrilled to announce its return with AHIP House Party 50! Mark your calendars for October 2nd, and stay tuned for more details 😊

With 50 years of service comes a new identity to mark it, and as such we have conducted a full revamp of our organization's website! We hope this new format proves easier to navigate for both donors and clients alike 😊 www.ahipva.org

#DidYouKnow the average cost of one of our county rehab jobs is $50,000? Such a cost would be devastating to our clients, which is why we're proud to have completed 7 of these projects last fiscal year! If you'd like to help us continue that work, give today! www.ahipva.org/about/donate

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, an adage this homeowner knew well when they reached out to us. Noticing cracks in their ceiling, they worried about a potential collapse down the line; now, they can sleep soundly 😊

While we can speak for days on end of the value of this work, sometimes it’s best to let our clients speak to it themselves! Before, Ms. F’s home was no real defense against the cold, especially in the recent snowy weeks, but with AHIP’s help she made it through safe and warm and remains so😊

Between rotted insulation in the flooring, and kitchen cabinets having suffered years of wear and tear, this county household was facing incessant reminders of their home's precarious state. Now, winter weather won't sap the warmth from a key gathering place, and there's plenty more to come 😊

Winter weather prep reminders!

Use towels to plug up doorways and other portals!

The cold can sap your home’s heat quickly and discretely. To ward this off, you can fold up towels or other thick fabrics and place them under doorways to keep warm air in, and cold air out!

Keep your cabinets open and your faucets dripping to prevent pipe freezes!

A frozen pipe can lead to bursts from ice expanding inside. By keeping your cabinets open, the warm air in your home will be able to circulate around the piping inside!

Leave your faucets dripping as well to further decrease freeze risks!

Be ready for any losses of power!

Make sure you have sufficient drinking water stockpiled to last for the expected duration of the storm, along with plenty of warm clothing & food that can be prepared without microwaves or ovens.

If possible, connect with your neighbors or family members about a plan in the event of such outages. Community counts in times like these!

This city client's floors were on the road to levels of decay that could cause serious injury, so our team went in and fixed things up! Likewise, their front door was starting to sag, and had lost its ability to properly protect against the elements. Now, the winter weather is no concern 😊
