Sculpting fur in zbrush videos I found on my old folders.
I used Orb crack, clay buildup and clay tubes. Maybe some flatted with the square alpha.
And clay polish so ez cleanup after blockout.

A soft meringue like mound of light tan clay piled up on a plaster batt. There is a nametag with Steph written on it, as it's in a shared pottery studio. The clay will slowly dry over the next 24 hours, ready to get wedged up and used again for the next round of pot making.

I used substance painter professionally for solium infernum in 2023 for characters. I used toolbag 4 at the same time to texture environments.
I much preferred toolbags workflow as it's more 3D and itterative.
A Meng F-4 G model kit out of the box and on the table ready to start unpacking and assembly.

A screenshot from Marmoset Toolbag 5 showing a wooden bear with a Lantern for a head. I have textured a low poly model using carve groups and some mask layers. On the right is my layer stack showing every different material of the bear is coloured using carve groups. Carve groups uses a black and white mask and values in the mask are then assigned a layer. Like a LUT. I can save out carve groups as a smart material, making a stylised pipeline very quick to setup.
Haha sometimes past me is just too good!
I saved this smart material for automating stylised textures Which I used in my shep file, and was able to use it to quickly colour in this old Spirit bear model in Toolbag5.
Carve groups all the way down!

a recovered enchantress set full of hand crafted fur, now recovered and reset back to base colours. It's not much but at least it's not completely gone.
One drive nuked all my shep files even though I made a backup of the folder.
Thankfully I exported the Toolbag file and it's Smart material to the library for testing purposes!!!
