A poster encouraging people to write to their MP to demand they scrap the proposed changes to indefinite leave to remain. The poster is blue, with a white RCN logo at the bottom.
We are demanding that IENs working in all settings must continue to be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain after five years.
Whether youโre impacted by the changes or not, write to your MP today to demand the UK government scrap the proposed changes. bit.ly/45qa50U
Internationally educated nursing staff (IENs) are a vital part of the health and care workforce.
On #OverseasNHSWorkersDay, RCN President Bejoy Sebastian reflects on his own journey as an internationally educated nurse and highlights the importance of IENs across all settings. Watch below โฌ๏ธ

Melania Trump is chairing a UN Security Council meeting.
I'm not joking.
The US currently holds the presidency of the council and that's who Trump chose as chair.
You cannot talk like this about any other minority in America.
And if it was any other presidentโs adviser who said something like this about any other minority, itโd be the instant end of their presidency.
Starmer needs to get on the phone to Trump and ask him to set out a plan to protect civilians and support a democratic transition in Iran.
We've seen before that bombs don't bring about democracy and regime change without a plan just leads to more chaos and suffering.
UK Defence Sec simply not answering Laura K's question re whether the Gov does or doesn't support the attacks on Iran. Labour clearly think we have no right to know! Outrageous ๐ก
I thought A5 only applied when a NATO member had been directly attacked?
A doctor who stood up to NHS racism 40 years ago when those who "led the NHS" looked the other way. As some still do.

DHSC has the largest drop in engagement (staff morale) among Whitehall departments, 6ppts from 63% to 57%
The dept also had a *13 ppt* drop for its leadership and managing change theme
Seems like NHS England abolition is causing serious discontent

If we hold NHS leaders accountable for waiting lists and finances, why not for racism?
Episode 2 of The Quiet Revolution goes behind closed doors at The Royal Free London to explore what real accountability could look like โ beyond zero tolerance slogans.

Fortunately tiny % of #Reform linked #Carpetbaggers: but one I react against more acutely being three-generations #NHS -& having a very-very distant link to the great Joan Stober (of Ga heritage) first Black-British nurse in NHS at its birth July1948. She like many built the NHS & local community!
As someone with ADHD this doesn't surprise me. The level of understanding of ND (inc EDI profs) is very low. Eh moving to open plan flexi-desking has hugely impacted a lot of ppl with ND. As an ext investigator of grievances I'm often astonished at the lack of action & reasonable adjustments.
On the day when shortcomings in maternity care are highlighted (again) dont forget the wise words from a sacked CEO who spoke truth to power - raising concerns can be (and often is) dangerous in the NHS

You decide to let your "gender-questioning boy" wear a dress, because it makes them happy and hurts no one and they're just experimenting . Then she changes her pronouns because it makes her happier and it hurts no one. Congratulations you've just invented gender-affirming care.
I agree with @njdavies.bsky.social point but also know from recent personal experience that there is no prioritisation for physio in my area. >1,000 on the waiting list & 4-5 month wait for 1st assessment. Something has to change. Enabling people to meet their basic needs should be the 1st priority.

What happens when you stop 'fixing' the people experiencing racism and start holding the leadership who run the system accountable?
At The Royal Free London, that question sparked a radical shift.

Make no mistake: this is part of the culture war the Labour Party has started with people who are different.
We didnโt have these problems even under Theresa May with her โcitizen of nowhereโ absurdity.

In 2024 NHS staff reported working unpaid overtime equivalent to at least 49โ000 full time employees.
A BMJ data analysis finds this discretionary effort, which has long underpinned NHS service delivery, is declining. What does this mean for workforce planning?

We want to support Girlguiding and the Women's Institute to remain inclusive. We think the law is on our side, and we're offering to cover all their costs.
But we need you to tell them how important trans inclusion is to you ๐
Problem is @rogerkline.bsky.social He SoS @wesstreetingmp.bsky.social is paying attention: refusing to acknowledge historic institutional racism, presides over removal of Asian & Black leadership with medical & clinical at NHS E & brings in an entirely White top team. Hand me a 0โ Guinness?
Absolutely applaud this initiative, dental care has been broken for too long. However, why is @eddavey.libdems.org.uk saying it's children and parents who are most affected? Surely those on low income (including pensioners) are the most affected? Same issue with current free dental criteria.
Our dental rescue package would ensure everyone can get the care they need, when they need it.
If we are serious about mental health care in 2026, we must be serious about:
โข safe staffing and skill mix
โข robust clinical supervision
โข continuing professional development
โข leadership that understands relational practice
โข systems that support thoughtful, person-centred decision-making
