Thanks to the organisation and to everyone for being kind, helpful and encouraging, as a postdoc finishing my contract I appreciated all the nice words :)

I was so excited talking science that I forgot to take a picture with my poster, but here is an online version. I talked about larch hybrids and their potential tolerance to P. ramorum in Irish forests. @teagasc.bsky.social
Seeing how far they have gone and the quality research they are carrying out is very inspiring. I loved hearing about their life experiences and their career paths, it encourages me to be hopeful: "There is always a way, and it will all work out in the end!"
Another awesome aspect was to reconnect with international researchers I have met over the years in summer schools, other conferences, professors, and people I have only interacted online.
I enjoyed every single talk, there is so much high quality research going on; I was amazed by the keynote speakers, it was a blessed to listen and interact with international highly recognised scientists; and all these in my beloved home town, Madrid!
Last week was a blast! Attending the @evoltree.bsky.social - @forgenius-eu.bsky.social conference hosted by INIA CSIC on "Integrative Diversity of Forest Ecosystems" was unforgettable.
Rejection is the norm: During the summer I had two unsuccessful fellowship applications.
Writing up another one and looking for postdocs as plan Bβ¦. I still put all my hopes and canβt help but imagine myself in the positions I apply to!
Second fellowship application submitted :) we will see! Then we had a little adventure π³π²
How exciting, I just submitted my first application for a research proposal and fellowship @royalsociety.org #NewtonInternationalFellowship
Fingers crossed!

Our SOM-based genotype imputation method wasselected as From the Cover article in the new issue of Molecular Ecology Resorces. So glad!
New research paper published. Thuja plicata and its genetic diversity levels in UK planted sites. No signs of loss from adults to offspring.

Grinding larch cambium for DNA extraction. How cool but also, 520 more samples to go lol
