A small dog with a large bone.
A cheap attempt by eldest son to win the number one spot in the dogβs heart, but I fear it will be ultimately successful.

A graphic shows two illustrated children, a boy and a girl, running like airplanes. The boy is holding a model plane. There are golden stars drawn around their heads. The text reads: reporting on children, 2pm Wednesday, 4 June, expert online discussion, register now for free. An IPSO logo in a circle is placed at the top left of the graphic.

Yikes. Months of training. 24 years after I last did one of these and marathon day has finally arrived. Good luck to everyone eating up the miles at Brighton today.
I tied these ribbons to the railings today outside what was HMP Holloway. There is no other sign at the site to remind people that a thousand suffragettes were imprisoned here and some were tortured. #InternationalWomensDay
This is a fascinating and thoughtful analysis of journalism - a great defence and argument by Allison Philips @newstatesman.com www.newstatesman.com/politics/med...
A graphic with a photo of Rosemary Douce at Church House in London. The text reads: "People bereaved by suicide are highly vulnerable. It is essential that journalists are compassionate and sensitive to their grief and shock. In reporting on deaths by suicide and inquests, editors and journalists should always be mindful of the potential impact of their work on bereaved families living with the trauma of their loss.β
1/3 The tension between the public interest of reporting on suicide and the risk of intruding into grief and shock has been a key topic for us at todayβs Suicide & Co Sector Summit at Church House in London where IPSO is exhibiting.
Bluesky now has swipeable video only feeds.
There was more than a touch of the drunken uncle about this feature.

Ah yes - I heard that pendulum swing - Richard-Karl-Richard. That Monteverdi was good eh? Some pipes on young Jakub!
One PM, you say? Count me in.
Excellent news.
Well hand washing is protective against flu, other viruses, and lots of bacteria. So itβs probably βgoodβ advice. Seeing things only through the Covid lens might be not the most sensible thing here. Also government funded research has done you a lot of goodβ¦ antibiotics being just one example.
Great thread on ethics in reporting. [Also @ipso.co.uk has advice on reporting suicide for people affected: www.ipso.co.uk/resources-gu... and for journalists when reporting: www.ipso.co.uk/resources/re... ]
A small dog (a brindle silver Glen of Imaal terrier) looks out from the void left by the roots of a massive beech tree which lies collapsed behind her.
She swears it was like this when she found it. Likely story.
The BBC World Service has broken its special coverage of Syria and the fall of Assad with the #ReithLecture on the notion of evil by forensic psychiatrist Gwen Adshead. An apt and prescient piece of programming. Her wisdom is staggering and always useful - especially now.

Loving the #SocEntAwards24 evening where itβs been an honour to be the βvoice of godβ for the last decade. Halfway through the celebration of the UKβs brightest businesses dedicated to making the world better. Beginning to sound like a Mongolian throat singer. @socialenterpriseuk.bsky.social πππ€π¬π§
This is a lovely, sad piece. I love Smithfield. The siteβs history, its noise and smell. The (dwindling) community around itβ¦ finally set to be crowded out. This living heritage needs protection. Itβs always struck me as ironic the Museum of London is capping the marketβs decline.
Disgraceful scenes in the fish, chip (and, most relevant) kebab shop. So hereβs a less shameful image of a Glen in a wood. Letβs focus on that memory.
Hi, Beck!
Perhaps thatβs where he bought the batteries for the childrenβs toys so they didnβt have to wait while they were dancing impatiently with excitement to open the packaging? Or where he got the lights for the tree? Personally, I like the one on Londonβs Tottenham Court Road best. A Xmas treat!
One of the weirder aspects of current social media driven debate is this widespread belief that echo chambers are a particularly new phenomenon
Totally. Gives the whole experience a retro satellite dish vibe. Maybe thatβs why we like it so much.

A cover of Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves that says "Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves" and with an illustration of Herr Dumpidump looking especially dumpidumpish (forgive me but I can't stop repeating the word dumpidump... DUMPIDUMP!)
My six favourite European Mr Men character names...
6. Mr Muddle in Spain = Don Confuso
5. Mr Topsy-Turvy in Germany = Herr Kuddelmuddel
4. Mr Bounce in France = Monsieur Bing
3. Mr Dizzy in Portugal = Senhor Bobo
2. Mr Greedy in Sweden = Gubben Glufs Glufs
1. Mr Bump in Norway = Herr Dumpidump

On the streets of Liverpool, there is a humanitarian crisis
A perfect storm of problems means more and more people are finding themselves homeless & sleeping rough & itβs getting worse - itβs a situation playing out across the country
A difficult 𧡠on what Iβve found reporting on this situation
Nearly! A Glen of Imaal Terrier.

So we need to talk about your behaviour on this morningβs walk.
