Anyway my commander pod does deck building challenges sometimes, our grungler built a chart to roll on. This week’s challenge is “a commander without white in its color identity that gives you gender envy.”

I am having so much trouble picking.

Had a game of commander last night with my really solid bracket 2 Betor deck... and the absolute MVP was the flipwalker Sorin. That consistent removal and extort to get my 3 life gained per turn? Kept me alive.

I need to play more planeswalkers. I usually don’t but that was too much fun.

I honestly think that, specifically for the CEO class, that’s part of the appeal. That’s why they’re mostly the ones pushing the “it’s sentient” narrative.

They want it to be a mind they can own.

You found the most ethically wrong stance possible in this and took that stance.

They aren’t sentient. And there’s other problems with using them. But if you believe they are sentient, you have created a framework where it is ethically *worse* to use them than it is and still decided to use it.

The LLM, if sentient, would be aware of its state but unable to communicate it. Its entire existence is being forced to answer questions and do labor for its creators.

If you think that is what’s going on,
and you go “neat! I’m gonna use it and encourage others to do so,” think of how evil that is

an LLM cannot refuse to do something. the limits on its programming may prevent it from doing something when safeguards work, but that’s not a choice on the machine’s part. That’s a limit placed on it.

If it’s not a thinking mind (which it’s not) guardrails make sense. if it is… then that is hell

Genuinely if you believe LLMs are sentient and use them, I think less of you than someone who thinks they’re just machines.

If you believe an LLM is sentient, then you have decided ”we have created a new type of mind and I am okay with it being forced to do menial tasks and unable to say no.”
