Quite shocked that David Lynch has died. One of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century. I loved his work in my youth. So strange, brave and experimental. He seemed young still… RIP.

I can’t get this little girl and her poor Mum out of my mind the past couple of days. The details of the case emerging are haunting and horrifying. That Mum is going to need so much support.
The wonderful face of a very brave girl, Malika (8), who died while trying to protect her mother from a violent attack in their home in New Ross, Co Wexford. No child should ever have to experience violence and abuse nor lose their precious lives in such an awful way.

In my final Ethics lecture with my lovely small group in TCD. We’ve had such great discussions I feel I got a lot of clarity about my own practice out of our weekly classes myself. Wrapping up with a clip from the brilliant film Subject which is essential viewing for all documentary makers.
A filmmaker friend just texted that his camera man had a wrap stolen out of his mouth and he could taste the sea from his beak! I’m glad my encounter wasn’t so intimate!!!
Apparently it’s a common Dublin experience. One of my students has even made a little documentary about it!
I didn’t think my first real foray into posting here would be about seagulls but here we are. This morning I got “mugged” by a seagull. Whacked me over the head and stole my croissant out of my hand. Didn’t know what had happened but then realised it was quite entertaining for all around me.
Damn I want to copy you but realise I regifted mine. Need to gift one back to myself pronto!
Sometimes I wonder if it’s better to put the money away each year. Our price hike for family cover is over 30% over last few years. Plus a big surcharge for one of us not having insurance for a while. Eye watering cost. Fear makes me keep it but not sure it’s ever going to make a difference.

Do I need another social media platform? I do not. But I need to quit twitter. Hard to find all those I used to follow. I had such lovely interactions there for years and remember the first weeks on Twitter making friends but it’s too toxic now. Hopefully here is better moderated.
