Good for you Peter. You are a champ. I hope you raise Β£1000s
It is and running into all sorts of unexpected issues. Bit like Dory in Finding Nemo- weβre telling ourselves to βjust keep swimming.β
Just finished this. The letter is heartbreaking because he could have taken leave in Sept. Instead he saved it up for Christmas. Six days after this letter he failed to return from a patrol. He was 29.
Great to see you too. Good call. Iβll be joining you once the last box is thrown in the dump.
Itβs a very special place and Iβll miss it when we repatriate.
It was an honour to take 820 squadron around Changi Chapel and Museum today. It is on deployment with U.K. Carrier Strike Group currently in Singapore. An impressive group of men and women.
Hi there Pegsy looking forward to saying hi at WHW this year. Iβm taking heart from the Pope Leoβs comments at the moment. He doesnβt mince his words. Loved that he met Zelensky after his inauguration.
As a female historian, I salute you.
Thank you for that thread. Not surprised he got emotional over the D Day Dodgers song. That verse is a tearjerker.
The name Changi is often greeted with gasps of horror. In this piece I question whether this reputation is deserved. ://www.asiamediacentre.org.nz//challenging-the-myths-surrounding-singapore-s-ww2-prisoner-of-war-camp
Sadly a significant number were shipped all around the Southeast Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere as slave Labour. A small number remained in Changi, amongst them the 8AIF concert party.
It was a pleasure to celebrate Kingβs Day with Anneke Adema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Singapore yesterday. The two countries have very close ties spanning decades.
Today, another Changi Museum guide and I attended the dawn Anzac Day service. Always moving and very personal for us because weβre honouring some who never even made it to Changi POW camp.
On the upside, they might not stay.

I was impressed with this calm and informative speaker. See what you think.
Listened to parts 1 and 2 today. You are right. You canβt tell the story of Singaporeβs Fall without the Malayan campaign. Make sure you do one of the free weekday tours of Changi. Well worth it.
This is the sort of thing that makes me home-sick. Good job @allontheboard
Very excited. Got accommodation and WHW Fest weekend ticket. Coming with a fellow Changi Chapel and Museum guide from Holland. Girls on tour.
Looking forward to listening to this. I tell I very potted history of the story whilst guiding at Changi Chapel and Museum. Keen to hear it from this perspective.
Roll up, roll up! I'm doing a talk next month as part of Lincoln's History Festival next month. #History #WW2 www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/raf-bomber...
Itβs a disgrace.
Theyβve done a good job.
Reading this at the moment. Published in 1995 but still potent. Itβs heart-warming to read of the joy and relief she feels when her POW son writes from Germany. Heart-breaking when you contrast that with what the families of the FE POWs must have felt, let alone the POWs themselves.
Fantastic. Iβll look out for you. Will bring some books to sell this time too.
Tonight, some Changi Chapel and Museum docents are assembling here for our monthly boosy Bookclub followed by a karaoke /singalong. What could possibly go wrong!?
Four smiling women aviators from the Women Airforce Service Pilots in front of an aircraft
No amount of β404 Not Foundβ will wipe their bravery and achievement off the record. They were the Women Airforce Service Pilots and they will not be forgotten.
Thatβs today sorted. Enjoy
Thank you. Glad to be here.
