It is and running into all sorts of unexpected issues. Bit like Dory in Finding Nemo- we’re telling ourselves to β€˜just keep swimming.’

Just finished this. The letter is heartbreaking because he could have taken leave in Sept. Instead he saved it up for Christmas. Six days after this letter he failed to return from a patrol. He was 29.

It was an honour to take 820 squadron around Changi Chapel and Museum today. It is on deployment with U.K. Carrier Strike Group currently in Singapore. An impressive group of men and women.

Hi there Pegsy looking forward to saying hi at WHW this year. I’m taking heart from the Pope Leo’s comments at the moment. He doesn’t mince his words. Loved that he met Zelensky after his inauguration.

Thank you for that thread. Not surprised he got emotional over the D Day Dodgers song. That verse is a tearjerker.

Challenging the myths surrounding the Changi prisoner of war camp Ahead of ANZAC Day, we hear about the history of Singapore's prisoner of war camp on the east peninsula of the island, run by Japanese during World War II. This site held thousands of Allied POWs and....

The name Changi is often greeted with gasps of horror. In this piece I question whether this reputation is deserved. ://www.asiamediacentre.org.nz//challenging-the-myths-surrounding-singapore-s-ww2-prisoner-of-war-camp

Sadly a significant number were shipped all around the Southeast Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere as slave Labour. A small number remained in Changi, amongst them the 8AIF concert party.

It was a pleasure to celebrate King’s Day with Anneke Adema, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Singapore yesterday. The two countries have very close ties spanning decades.

Today, another Changi Museum guide and I attended the dawn Anzac Day service. Always moving and very personal for us because we’re honouring some who never even made it to Changi POW camp.

Listened to parts 1 and 2 today. You are right. You can’t tell the story of Singapore’s Fall without the Malayan campaign. Make sure you do one of the free weekday tours of Changi. Well worth it.

Reading this at the moment. Published in 1995 but still potent. It’s heart-warming to read of the joy and relief she feels when her POW son writes from Germany. Heart-breaking when you contrast that with what the families of the FE POWs must have felt, let alone the POWs themselves.
