Another one for the ever growing collection of memes to take the piss out of the N64 haters. Thanks @gamingforages.bsky.social for the blank template and the cool idea.
It was never released on the N64 at the time so I didn't play it until a few years ago when a file of the complete game was dumped. Seemed okay but the console has too many strong contenders in the genre
I think most people had moved on by late 1995 when it was released, so missed it at the time. Although it's been on just about every Sonic and Sega Mega Drive collection released since, which is where I discovered it. Not too shabby but I've never gotten far in it.
This is the only one in the series I've played. Hopefully get round to the others at some point
God of War (2005) PlayStation 2 European box art, with a UK BBFC 18 age rating
Game 4 of 2026 slain, God of War.
First time I've played since the game was new in 2005. In spite of some frustrating sections and annoying cheap deaths, it really is a masterpiece of epic proportions which I've thoroughly enjoyed revisiting. Truly one of the finest of that generation.
This game is one that passed me by, despite being familiar with the first game. This game was known more for its controversial advertising campaign - offering to pay the funeral costs of anyone who'd promote the game on their headstone - than anything.
You should reach out to that Out of Print Archive if they're still going, or see if there's anyone else who can professionally digitise and preserve them
Followed and shared for exposure. Always happy to support you bro
Iโve created a new account where I'll finally be putting my collection of over 400 issues of Edge magazine to good use. Itโs a treasure trove of gaming history that I think deserves to be preserved and shared.
If you enjoy learning and talking about gaming's good old days, consider checking it out!
The one that never happened
I still don't understand why this game warranted a BBFC 18 rating in the UK, was no more violent than Goldeneye which was ELSPA 15 iirc
My personal favourite is Minish Cap, although this is easily top 3. It's absolutely phenomenal, in spite of the criticism the visuals received at the time, which have aged remarkably.
I never played Legends on PSP but I did play the DS version. I did like it, even though it looked like a PS1 game it played well on the little handheld
It really is. I haven't properly got stuck into 3, but I found Revenge and Paradise a bit disappointing. Dominator is my personal favourite, bringing back burnout chaining made it a perfect blend of old and new. Point of Impact a close second.
Yeah 10 laps and you're still on the first after 3ยฝ minutes really isn't the one. Star Wars pod Racing and the original Burnout have pretty lengthy races but they're actually good games so it doesn't grate like SoS
I'd probably agree if I hadn't played something even worse beforehand for reference. I only played the easy tracks on it and that was enough
One of the best arcade racers out there even today. Although I played it on Gamecube before I got a PS2. From what I understand that version was missing the crash junctions that the NGC & Xbox versions had
It is indeed
I was going to get VERY descriptive in the alt text of each photo, but I didn't want to unfairly influence any future reviews on your part.
I'm usually pretty generous when I'm scoring the games I play, I'd even rate Spirit of Speed 2/10 ๐
Go Kart Rally - PS2
Cyber Fight - Switch
If I'd had a physical CD copy of Go Kart Rally when I played it, I'd have melted the edges enough to soften and fold up four "sides", glued 1p over the centre hole and given it away to one of my smoker friends to use as an ashtray.
And that's the better of these two shit-shows!
Nice. Started a new game on God of War (2005) tonight, first time playing in 20 years. Forgot how good this game is.
Platforming games I love that aren't Mario or Sonic
This is one of the things I like about Kill It With Fire, it had achievements that got you creative, although "Kill 10 spiders in 10 different ways on a single level" eluded me
My top ten Zelda games
1 Soul Calibur II NGC
2 Minish Cap
3 Wind Waker
4 Ocarina of Time
5 Oracle of Seasons
6 Link to the Past
7 Twilight Princess
8 Phantom Hourglass
9 Majora's Mask
10 (reluctantly) Spirit Tracks
I actually haven't played any more, hence creatively making up the numbers.
I remember the days it was thriving there, if you had something to share you'd use up the 10 tag limit and still have friends to tag in a separate tweet.
There's exactly two people left on there from my "Inner Circle" who aren't active on Bluesky.
Pity there's no polls on here yet. That and photo tags are the two main features I miss from the old place. Might liven up the interaction here a bit if those were added.
I'd always recommend trying a game once, even the utter tripe ones. At least you'll have your own experience to fall back on when discussing, as opposed to these people relying on YouTube opinions.
I think because it was a European Exclusive (and had some sort of block to prevent it working on NTSC consoles even with a Gameshark) it didn't get the exposure or YT coverage that something like Superman got. If it had been released across the Pond more people would appreciate how bad it is.
