IMO progression-gating should always be a thin stick with a massive carrot, something to incentivize engaging with mechanics beyond "you gotta". Hytale nails it.

That @hytale.bsky.social has progression gated by tier upgrades on workbenches, with the upgrades requiring resources that require the specific tier you're about to unlock, to unlock, to encourage exploration, is so genius I'm not convinved Hypixel's designers aren't space aliens from the future.

TBH it was seeing the sheer number of people who genuinely do *not* get it when it comes to the rhetoric in Helldivers 2, so I felt like giving the hornet's nest a good ol' poke by turning the character-customization menu gender-agnostic.

Somehow this completely failed to piss off most fascists.

Folks're discussing the best furry partners for 2025, but with the ongoing DLC updates to Helldivers 2, Terminid queens deserve an honourable mention.
