Framing and language make a huge difference on a topic little understood by the public thatβs been weaponized by the right wing

New polling on strong βframing effectβ of trans issues.
Should minors be able to get GAC?
Opposed 57-28% net -29%
Should minors be be able to get doctor-recommended GAC after diagnosis.
Supported 44-28%, net +16%
That's a 45% swing.
it was very revealing when the media and consultant response to republicans basically claiming public schools were running forced feminization dungeons out of their basements during the 2024 election was βtheyre really hammering the dems on trans issuesβ instead of βthese people are batshit insaneβ
Hey stenographer, whatβs the exit strategy?
A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nationβs people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.
We mustnβt let this war do so.
No exit plan? I thought we learned to never go in without an exit plan
Oh my, I must read this now
A total failure, resign in disgrace
The entire 2016 campaign was defined by the media's outrage over Hillary's use of a private email server. In 2026, a high ranking government official's use of an encrypted app to avoid scrutiny as he sends ICE goons around the nation is a one day story. YOUR MAINSTREAM MEDIA π
Iβm not sure weβve properly addressed how profoundly disturbing it is that America can largely shrug at the stashing of human beings in giant warehouses.
Are you the stupidest person on the planet?
If the Gov. actually wanted to curb undocumented immigration, it would go after the companies that knowingly hire immigrants, exploit them, and rely on paying them unlivable wages. Funny how no corporations are getting in trouble, even as the narrative is about βlaw and orderβ

The Semafor boys did a podcast with Sarah Rogers, the State Department official who is trying to force the EU to platform Nazi speech. She UTTERLY pantsed the boys, who apparently are babes in the wood and don't know how Nazis weaponize "free" speech.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

One time Joe Biden told an anecdote in front of the press and at one point he mistakenly referred to the President of Egypt as President of Mexico and CNN could not stop talking about it FOR WEEKS
OOPS.
When Dems are in power, we got stories and entire narratives framed through the lens of right-wing peopleβs imagined wrongs.
When the Trump admin acts, we get stories and entire narratives framed through the lens of right-wing peopleβs imagined wrongs.
When a handful of far-right voices complained about equality measures being pushed by the Biden admin re gadding treatment of trans people under sex discrimination laws in accord with precedent, we got years of nonstop reporting on how aggressive the Biden admin was in advancing trans rights.
Read in app The Trump administration has installed prominent gun right advocates in senior political positions, and the president has allied himself with conservative advocacy groups, such as Gun Owners of America. The administration has pushed to slash about 5,000 law enforcement officers from ATF, cutting the number of inspectors who ensure gun sellers are in compliance with federal laws. But some gun rights advocates have publicly expressed disappointment with Attorney General Pam Bondi, who as attorney general of Florida supported gun restrictions after the 2018 school shooting in Parkland. Bondi and the Trump administration have faced criticism for not going as far as some lawmakers and gun rights advocates have demanded.
Bondi pushed out ATF's longtime general counsel and replaced her with a political appointee, Robert Leider β a former law professor who believes in a strict interpretation of the Second Amendment and has publicly written about how ATF too heavily regulates firearms.
Word choice is key in understanding framing.
The βcriticismβ from the far-right is solely Overton window-shifting bullshit, and Perry Stein β who, incidentally, also wrote the inaccurate Walz/Frey subpoena story last Friday β just goes along with it.
And: βStrict interpretation.β
its so weird to me when reporters are like "here's the challenges of Trump running Venezuela" when clearly he's not and has no way to run Venezuela? there are no troops there? the Government says he's not, so why is this not covered as a fantasy of a weird old man?
Nothing to see here folks, just a sitting president investing in two companies whose merger he claims sole authority to approve or reject. Totally normal! π
