Baby headcams reveal how babies encounter faces during development Baby-worn headcams and AI shows non-linear changes in how babies see faces as they grow.

Pleased to share a Cardiff University news feature on our work with Hana Dโ€™Souza.

Using baby-worn headcams and AI face detection, we found non-linear changes with age in face availability from babiesโ€™ point of view during everyday play.

Thanks to @cardiffbabylab.bsky.social and families involved.

Fascinating insights into how we can collect more real-life, naturalistic observations and utilise machine learning for analysis to better inform research to improve the lives of young children with #DownSyndrome from @cardiffbabylab.bsky.social at 2025 Research Forum @dseinternational.bsky.social

Good luck to Hana, Charlotte, Teddy, and Becky for their symposium - "Leveraging machine learning to understand and support the everyday experiences of young children with Down syndrome"!

We can't wait to hear you all speak!

Eyes on Reading: Whatโ€™s Next in the Science of Reading โ€” Planet Word Museum Donโ€™t miss this rare opportunity to hear from Dr. Mark Seidenberg and Dr. Maryellen MacDonald, two of the worldโ€™s leading scientists in reading and language research, as they join Planetโ€ฆ

I'm giving a talk with Mark Seidenberg at Planet Word Museum on March 1. We haven't done a joint talk in over 30 years! My part aims to bring insights from psycholinguistic research to children's reading instruction. planetwordmuseum.org/events/eyes-...

To remember something (e.g., a list of groceries), you can repeat the items aloud or in your mind, to remind you. What if you are trying to recall locations? Do we analogously use glances toward them to boost memory? I don't think so, and here is some new evidence against this idea. ๐Ÿงต #psychscisky
