Kutz is a finite resource that will eventually run short, which has caused it to be rationed with pure Kutzal being reserved for higher ranking members of the government and army. Weaker and less pure alloys are used to preserve it and even fake Kutzal is made and sold illegally.

As a former member of the clergy Everett is very experienced with medicine and medicinal herbs. He is most skilled as a healer, not just with his magic but also with improvised medicine and surgical knowledge.

He carries a variety of mundane and magical plants on him at all times.

That is my main villain, the wizard Rettick. He’s the main antagonist and the one pulling the strings for all the major conflict in the story. He’s a crazy capitalist that thinks he’s a god.

Orcs will actually grow an enormous amount of fungus in the form of large scale composting. As orcs do not farm traditionally the closest they get is when they despose of their waste in large communal places in order to grow mushrooms in mass. This also keeps their cities clean as it moves waste.

In the country of Vuldrull miners and smiths are actually some of the most respected memeber of society as they are a culture built on the backs of craftsman.

Those who actually go mining for Kutz are respected and celebrated. And the Smiths that forge it into Kutzal are even more honored/

Willow bark is a real pain killer in our world but is even more potent in Othera. Willow trees are powerful sources of life magic and are often given religious meaning.

Using willow bark can help to close wounds and even be applied in patches to make new skin over burns.

While the actual harvesting of Kutz is easy, being able to collect it with a simple pick and basket. The trouble comes from keeping the caves it is found in from collapsing and making sure the miners don’t breath in the dust as it will degrade your lungs.

When it was young, he had long curly hair that caused his older brother Tyrell to call him rosebud. When his brother died, this connotation to roses became even stronger for Everett personally.

Roses are seen as an omen, of change and that things are going to turn out all right but maybe not better

A plant that is symbolic in my setting are roses, instead of being a flower that represents romantic love they are a flower that represents death and morning.

Specifically, it is traditional to gift roses to the dying and to plant rose bushes over graves of loved ones. 🧵

Kutz only forms from high levels of magic and high compression, it is thought that the spine mountains were made with a magical disaster which is why it forms so much more commonly there.

While the crystal is easy to collect it is much harder to use as it needs to be processed.

The raw material needed is a crystal called Kutz, it is a sky blue gem that is found high on the peaks of the spine mountains that forms looking similar to natural salt.

Kutz in its raw from is flaky and fragile because of how it forms, but its small individual crystals are nearly unbreakable 🧵

Rettick is dressed in heavy layers of grandeur and jewels. He stands out in any crowd and out dresses kings.

His clothing is important to him for tactical reasons as a wizard. But is also just a fan of the finer things and showing them off.

Ingots of Kutzal are wroth 3 times their price in gold and are heavily monitored and protected.
