And why should France help someone who's never been to France ? When do you stop citizenship. And again it's easy.. if they want to keep a link to the country and integrate the national solidarity they can register at the consulate and pay a small fee.

And you're right. It's a moral issue. And therefore it is highly subjective and can be discussed. We just don't have the same view on what morality entails and what is more important between birth rights and equality in front of taxes...

And FYI I've lived as an expat for 15 years in my 40 year life (not in a row). In all those years we always had a link to France and paid taxes there.
And I see all the French here living in The US while trashing France for the tax. Except that they are happy to go back when they have kids...

And there's a very easy way to see that. If you are a citizen that wants to keep link with your home country, you at least register in the consulate so that you can still participate to the life of the country by voting for example.

And sorry but I don't agree. When you live a country completely because you don't want to pay taxes that kind of diminish the citizenship aspect. You can be an expat and still keep strong financial link to your home country (which is what an expat here).

Is this a law of physics that can never be changed ? Taxes could be in part linked to nationality.

If a gvt needs to cut expanses what do you prefer? Cutting help to a rmfew rich expats or cutting help to Brits in the country.

I'm French. I live in the States. As an expat because we are paid from France and we pay all our taxes in France. And we didn't get in here to avoid paying taxes.

The thing is that those people left Europe because of taxes. They brag about it. And yet when they are in trouble they want to ...

Of course now. But if they want a passport and consular service they have to contribute to it. It could be having to pay an annual fee.

And if they really are expat, they normally pay taxes in their home country. Otherwise they are immigrants...

The mistake here is the trivial costs. Nope it's not just the cost of evacuation. In order to do that you have to have an embassy, a consulate, diplomacy etc. And that costs a lot.

We're talking about people who went to Dibai on the purpose to avoid taxes and that brag about it though?

So why should they have the privilege of being evacuated in this case ?

You could do something like paying for consular services when you register if you don't pay taxes in your country.

J'ai passé les dernières 48h a faire des recherches sur les influenceurs a Dubai pour un projet perso. Leur déconnexion par rapport a la réalité, le fair qu'ils quittent la France pour échapper à l'impôt etc. Au point que ca m'a rendu malade...
