No surprises, surely?
Candidate is arrogant charmless TV presenter & hates everything: lose.
Campaign is entitled technocracy + smearing left-liberalism: lose.
Candidate is local & can make OK speech about how a good job should lead to a good life: win.
Normal politics is trying to be born.

The Secret Agent was one of my top 10 favourite films from 2025 & itβs now finally hitting UK cinemas this Friday. My review of this layered, idiosyncratic juggernaut of a film, courtesy of Cinerama Film, is linked below π
Iβm not surprised by the divisive reactions to Wuthering Heights, especially since my own thoughts were really mixed overall. Itβs visually stunning & thematically rich but itβs also gratuitous & theatrical to a fault. Full review courtesy of Cinerama Film. Link in post below π
Send Help Film Review
Send Help (review) β a movie that basks in the playful macabreness that makes Raimi such a hypnotic director. Review by @calumcooperfilm.bsky.social Read More π
thinking once again about how many Washington Post jobs the $75 million Bezos spent on Melania could have saved
So the βelectedβ President with his elected majority House and Senate says they have to takeover elections because Dems cheat. Make that argument make sense.
Donald Trump didn't break the political system on his own.
Our broken political system is why we have Trump.
Some questioned my choice to write about this vile pseudo-documentary, & maybe thereβs a case there. But when I see such shameless propaganda, especially in the context of whatβs happening in America, trite like this needs to be called out. My zero star review, via Cinerama Film, linked belowπ

My first film review of 2026 may well be for the yearβs worst film so far. Courtesy of Cinerama Film, my words on the absurd, unimaginative and morally dubious Mercy is linked in the post below π
rightwingers see people caring about others in their community and instead of finding that inspiring they think itβs some sort of grand conspiracy because they donβt understand what it means to care for others you donβt personally know
Since Congress passed a law requiring Trump to release the Epstein Files, Trump has:
- Tried to start a war with NATO over Greenland
- Threatened to use the military to suppress free speech in Minnesota
- Illegally withheld 99% of the files and heavily redacted the ones that were released
Good morning.
A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive.
Thatβs not an accident. Itβs a choice made by those in power.
Tax wealth. Fund public services. Build an economy for everyone - not the 1%.
Donald Trump has huge problems at home.
Huge problems abroad.
Huge problems economically.
Huge problems if he stops being the President.
The USA isn't unstoppable, it is teetering on edge, it can't afford to escalate in Greenland or Venezuela.
And if it does, it's over.
100% this!π
Stephen Colbert on the ICE murder of Renee Nicole Good: βThe message from this administration is clear. Only they determine the truth. And when their forces come to your city: obey or die. And if you die, you clearly didnβt obey. This should be an alarm bell for the entire country.β

Devastated by the passing of Rob Reiner & his wife Michelle, especially if the alleged circumstances are true. A master of the crowdpleaser, Reinerβs work was often understated but many were trailblazers in their own right- Stand by Me is an all-time favourite. Rest in Peace.
I wrote about 10 Christmas films (& a few honourable mentions) that I find myself constantly going back to over the season to be jolly. Had a great time writing this & thanks to @cineramafilm.com for platforming it. Link in post below π
