I'm really excited to keynote at this conference. My talk, "Studying Queer Data While Living It: Positionality, Power, and Practice," will be on Thursday Feb 26th at 11:15 am NYC time.
Happy to teach an intro stats or intro research methods class on survey design.
Someone made an actually-organized version of this!!

NKD is probably the most βauthenticβ of them. Trejo has a pretty good one that tastes totally different but good. Kentucky 74 is the classic one for mixing. Donβt expect any of them to be good for sipping directly, but mixed theyβre pretty good!
why did they call it "therapy" and not "deep issue massage"
Do I have any Canadian contacts working in the Queer data space that are interested in submitting a grant with me? Must be at a Canadian university. Topic would be gender affirming care in trans individuals. I have a proposal idea.
Feeling especially sad and frustrated with the state of scientific funding in the US right now. Itβs devastating that good grants with scientific merit are unfundable because their topics disagree with the politics of administration
I know this isnt new but itβs hitting me hard and personally today
This is a cool call for papers. Anyone want to work on something with me to submit to this. I only have a few vague ideas so Iβd be happy to collaborate with someone who has a more structured idea.
It always brightens my day when my students papers get accepted. Love to see the talent of the next generation of statisticians!
Keep at it! We canβt let a mistake define us. You now get to make a new choice to keep working towards your goal.
As we head into the new year, let's all be gentle with ourselves and our bodies. You are the one who determines your own goals. You are the one who knows what food makes you feel good and nourished. You are the one who gets decide what you eat. Trust yourself.
Time to replace the document called Fall To Do with Spring To Do. Contents? The same
Time to motivate myself to grade all day.
8 down, 21 to go
Looking forward to this talk! Come join me for a discussion on queer data!

Zohran Mamdani doesnβt make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.
Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isnβt really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Good work!
Any good posts or things you think I should include in Friday's lecture?
And to be honest, these are things Iβve only learned by watching students struggle during the pandemic and also dating a special ed teacher. And Iβve become a better and more fair instructor for it
Profs, letβs stop pretending like we have taken education classes outside of our field of expertise
For example, I need text to speech for longer readings and students now can get this. I could have done way better in school and learned more of accommodations were more common in the 90s and early 00s.
And for many of us who are neurodivergent or have other needs, we were in school before reasonable accommodations were more common, so we think βI did it and so can they.β But think about how much more you could have achieved if you had what you needed.
We leave the determination of reasonable accommodation to the experts, and our job as professors is to accommodate as instructed.
In fact, we can learn a lot about good teaching by considering which accommodations might help all students if built into our policies (e.g. extensions and recordings)
