<div class="field field-field-text"><p>An Iranian-Kurdish women's group have expressed concerns about a number of their members who are currently political prisoners in Iran, who have been cut off by the US-Israeli attack on the country.<br>

In response to a question from MEE about Verisheh Moradi - who was imprisoned for "armed rebellion" over her support of the Woman, Life, Freedom demonstrations that broke out in 2022 - the Free Women of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR) said their contact with political prisoners had become "extremely limited."<br>
<br>
"There have been no specific reported changes in prison conditions. The main issue is that most prisoners are living in fear, anxiety, and complete isolation from the outside world," said a spokesperson for the group.<br>
<br>
"In some cities, including Sanandaj, facilities affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran have reportedly been targeted...The risk that some of these political detainees could be killed is considered very high.<br>
<br>
"So far, the air strikes have not led to any noticeable change in the behavior of the authorities. On the contrary, in many cities the security atmosphere has become even more intense and restrictive, and the overall situation appears to be worsening. Therefore, unless these developments lead to a structural political change, the prospects for a transition toward democracy remain unlikely," the added.</p>
