....and curry I would argue :P
ahahahah! that is not authentic :D
tomato + mozzarella + anchovies + capers is actually very italian, called "napoletana" :P
High-performance userspace networking rarely works for cloud VMs due to specialized NIC dependencies and rigid designs.
In βEnabling Fast Networking in the Public Cloudβ (ACM ASPLOS 2026), we introduce Machnet, evaluated on Azure, EC2, and Google Cloud.

Contribute a recorded talk to NINeS! We are soliciting per-recorded videos that are up to 15-minutes long. Find details about topics at nines-conference.org/cft. We are excited to see what you come up with!
"Mako: Readily Deployable Congestion Control Achieving O(1)-step Convergence" got accepted at USENIX NSDI'26! We show that delay and delay gradient can rival INT, enabling to reach the target speed in constant time, independent of network conditions, without requiring specialized network features.
"Defending against Traffic Analysis Attacks with Flexible In-Network Obfuscation" got accepted at USENIX NSDI'26! In the paper we show that by using a combination of packets' fragmentation and generation of small TTL packets is possible to protect traffic against ML based classification techniques.
There are only 8 days to October, and the NINeS deadline! Submit your finest ideas.
Interesting (and scary) to see a blog post (https://thenewstack.io/research-ebpf-not-always-a-silver-bullet-for-network-apps/) about a new paper (led by @fshahinfar1.bsky.social, along with @gianniantichi.bsky.social and Sebastiano) explainging that the new shiny technology is not a panacea.
We are getting closer to the NINeS deadline (October 1).
Watch Scott talk about why you should submit your work to NINeS!
Have you wondered about challenges in designing and running a datacenter that count up to 512K GPUs?
"Astral: A Datacenter Infrastructure for Large Language Model Training at Scale" will be presented at ACM SIGCOMM! Work in collaboration with Nanjing University, Harvard University and Tencent!
This week, we hear @natefoster.bsky.social's response to Why Nines? A cat is involved in producing the video, but like many good producers does not appear in the video.
we haven't decided anything yet about that but I do not see why it should not :)
Here is a good reason to submit your paper to CoNEXT 2026: I will be the PC chair :)
Next up @apanda
talks about Why Nines? No cats this time because they were all busy working on their NINeS papers.
Watch @gianniantichi.bsky.social (and Ludo) answer the question Why NINeS?
π’ We are excited to announce NINeS, a new online conference dedicated to bold, foundational ideas in networked systems! Submissions due Oct 1; event on Feb 10. Join us! nines-conference.org #NINeS

Enabling Virtual Priority in Data Center Congestion Control won the best student paper award at ACM EuroSys 2025! We propose a solution that extend existing congestion control algorithms for virtual priority transmission!
This wasn't possible without the star student Zhaochen and all the co-authors!

Recently, I have been busy exploring eBPF Arena β a new API that enables eBPF programs to allocate memory pages; similar functionality as mmap and munmap . I've written a blog post about it that I like to share with you: fshahinfar1.github.io/blog/04_ebpf...

Less than a month to the HotOS 2025 deadline (January 15). Submit your βhottestβ systems ideas (by which I of course mean most interesting and fun ideas), and come hangout in Banff for two days in May. More details in the CFP at sigops.org/s/conference....
well...on the positive note i do have something to submit in the near future :-)
you are not alone <3
