In those cases, we'd appreciate additional nonbinary characters, but at least the devs went through the bother of intentionally designing a character to be nonbinary, and that's really nice without any reservations.

It's a completely different thing, btw, if the player character is a character written and designed by the game devs who is always nonbinary rather than simply giving a nonbinary option during character creation.

International Non-binary People's Day is literally July 14th. Every fucking year.

It just leaves a bad taste in our mouth. It's putting in the bare minimum of inclusion of allowing for more than two pronouns to refer to the player character, but not so much effort as actually writing a character who is nonbinary.

A thing that happens is that there'll be a new (to us) game that makes clear that we can choose to be nonbinary in character creation and we go into it cautious, but optimistic, make a character who's nonbinary, and then our character is the only nonbinary character in the game.

Fearmongering about illiteracy ignores the basic fact that, for most people today like in no other time in history, their primary mode of communication is reading and writing.

Society right now is currently more literate than it ever has. Mass communication is almost entirely written and most people of all ages spend a significant amount of their day engaging socially with people primarily through reading and writing.

Our girlfriend's pay went through earlier than expected. We're still a bit in the red personally, but this means we can at least afford food for the weekend.
