Science is a noble but fragile endeavour that must be protected from political control and censorship.

Scientific communities, around the world, should show solidarity with our colleagues in the US and denounce this chilling attack on science and scientists.

"Unfunded research" = basic research motivated by disciplinary importance, which forms the basis for funded research and the international reputation of universities that drives student recruitment.

Without it, a university is not a research university and is not financial viable.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or β€œpause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
