This is actually a different thing - not all areas of purple moor grass are bad. It’s just when it is the dominant species in landscapes that should be filled with other vegetation communities, such as blanket bogs.

Crucial point is much of the UK's peatlands are already degraded and therefore urgently need restoration to a) reduce their contribution to exacerbating climate change and b) build in the resilience needed to allow these important ecosystems to adapt
Looking for contacts and things to read..
Alongside my peatland research I’ve just started a @britishecolsoc.bsky.social funded policy fellowship with Natural England, looking at how different levers support the national Nature Recovery Network – how is TBD, so keen to read any/all existing work
Can't wait to read this! However it doesn't appear to be available on the link?
Great list! Can you add me please?
In a time of climate and biodiversity crises, restoration offers a beacon of hope, but these landscapes the time to recover from decades, even centuries, of anthropogenic pressures.

Hi! 👋
I’m interested in understanding and guiding nature recovery.
I combine field, lab, remote sensing data and coding to understand changes to ecosystem structure and function following habitat restoration works.
