As a biologist, I'm appalled at pride the White House takes in willful ignorance.

In yesterday's executive order about NPR and PBS, their first example of "the trash that passes for `news' at NPR and PBS" is the statement that "banana slugs are hermaphrodites."

But this is unequivocal fact.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Stop saying “post covid”. People are confusing the end of the public health emergency with the end of the pandemic.

The pandemic is not over. “During COVID” is now.

If we want to end it, we need to first acknowledge this fact. Then mask up, clean the air & develop better vaccines & treatments.

I would love all defunded scientists to come to Europe and Europe to host them all in wonderful scientific institutes

When considering prevention of infectious diseases like Covid, please note that many people simply cannot protect themselves (e.g. children, the hospitalized, those living with people who won't mask). It's not enough to say "you mask if you want". Public health failed us
