i played a demo for a game called SPECTRA for two hours yesterday. some technical parts still feel very rough right now, but it has some beautiful visuals inspired by real-life architecture and fun mechanics, so i hope more people give it a try.

- into the disconnect between being another body. Either have some unique visual look that’s distinguishable while letting you have a custom character or lean into the dysphoria of playing an identity / being in a body that’s not yours. The game can’t decide on what it wants in this regard.

- solo play I’ve seen some like cooperation but also some fights, but duos or 3s feel like always pvp. There’s no huge threat like in Arc Raiders to make people in 3s team up
- not sure how I feel about “heroes” still. I’m onboard with set ability loadouts but the game doesn’t seem to want to lean-

Marathon thoughts:
- art style and design are classic Bungie incredible.
- the base geography between the two maps is different but because they both have the same building style (which is amazing don’t get me wrong) the maps feel samey. Destiny avoided this issue w multiple factions

baby GL fans have this backwards idea where they think women make the fluff romance & mature yuri and men make the unorthdox perverted or moe adjacent yuri. in reality a lot of the male creators generally are the ones making the "pure yuri" stuff and the women are doing "all of the above"

They walled off a good bit of stuff from the server slam I believe, you can’t unlock the last faction or do story quests for the last 3.

Is there a game that has some degree of system complexity that is generally successful at teaching those systems / onboarding them?
