So… Codename: Kids Next Door…
This show definitely held CN a great deal during the 2000s next to stuff like Foster’s Home, Billy & Mandy, and especially Ed Edd n Eddy combined.
The lore and characters made this feel like a one-of-a-kind experience predating Adventure Time after all.

You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.

Remember y’all, if certain side characters that you like don’t get as much attention as… y’know, the main characters, the answer is NOT to try bullying/crucifying the storyteller.
They’re telling the story they want to tell. You’re not.
I don't have a lot to say except back the fuck up and remember your favorite cartoon creators are human beings
People are getting way too comfortable harassing creators and artists and I can’t blame anyone for losing their patience with it.
Like you can enjoy other people’s characters but you have to accept that they don’t belong to you.

While aggressive and hard-to-please, it really stems from isolation and poor treatment.

Regardless of the quality of either take on Doug, be it from the Nick or Disney eras, I feel like this series deserves a lot more respect and credit for what it did for both networks going forward in the 90s much like how I feel about what Rocky & Bullwinkle did for animation going forward.
